Zero77
Hi, Here is my last finished build. I thought it would be faster to build, as there are not many parts in the kit, but it was pretty long, especially because of the praparation and care for the glossy finish. The kit is pretty good, with good fit, but i've made a few mistakes that i had to correct then. There was 3 M.39 racers in 1926 (+2 trainers), i've choosen the number 5, flown by De Bernardi, who was the winner of the race. The model was primed with tamiya pink primer, and then painted with tamiya TS-8. The propeller and propeller cone are in polished white metal. I know that my build has many little flaws but i've learned a lot about this kind of kits and aircraft, so i hope the next ones would be easier. However i'm very happy with it, and it bring a very nice touch of color in my display ! And 20's racers are absolutely beautiful aircraft. If it can help, here is the link to the WIP : http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=54058 Edited February 14, 2015 by Zero77

dora9
Nice! How did you manage the rads? I have the Piaggio-Pegna PC-7 kit and the Macchi M-72, and am stuck with those rads, specially the M-72 with the rads on the float struts. Love those Schneider planes! Zero77
I have struggled with the rads, too ! What is your problem exactly? First i tried to glue them with gator glue, on the alredy painted wings. But it didn't work. Then i tried to anneal them to make them easier to bend around the wing, but i've made the mistake to do it with a blowtorch and they were very deformed. Then i simply decided to glue them with CA, and it worked. Next time i may try to glue them with CA before painting the aircraft, so it would be easier to clean any CA excess. Anyway, i've painted the rads with alcad bras i find the naked brass to be a bit unrealistic in scale. Edited February 14, 2015 by Zero77
dora9
I have struggled with the rads, too ! What is your problem exactly? I tried with CA, but probably mine was too fast curing, maybe with a slower one? On the M-72 they have to conform to the front and rear struts of the floats and it's a pain in the b......! Will end up painting them too because the look of them, just bare, I don't feel like it, not scale like. Zero77
Zero77
Thabks Maru, you're too kind ! Andre, yes possibly. I've used Super Glue CA gel "power flex", the one dedicated to glue flexible materials. I dont know how it's called on the other side of the pond. It's not very slow to cure, but not the fastest either. You only have a few seconds anyway. But i've glued the wing rads in two times, first the top and then the bottom. I think i've posted one or two pictures of it in my WIP.The MC.72 is literally a flying radiator ! Edited February 14, 2015 by Zero77
