Urs
The central wing section before airbrushing the shown area with flat black. Later in the built you have no chance to access the gabs inbetween the flaps. That Hog got raised flaps as you can see to better show the wing profile. airbrushed and washed wheel bays I have to add some hydraulic lines her but lacked the needed wires to build them today. l'll create them tomorrow. There are few things to pimp withthat kit. One such is the sterring rod of the counter trim tap That spoiler to the left R14 is mentioned in the manual but the wing preparation for that is not mentioned within the Tam manual. The guns were made out of injection needles and brass tubes. Edited January 18, 2015 by Urs Mal_Belford, Anthony in NZ and Whitey
David Hansen
FWIW, building the model flaps up is not only operationally authentic but it makes the finished model a LOT easier to handle. david
Urs
Most of Kiwi Hogs photo references shows them with raised flap in park position. Maybe the RNZAF had advice to handle the flaps on ground than USN/USMC had.

Urs
Three pics of the actual stage of work on theR-2800-8W. The parts are just snapped together w/o gluing, also the sheet metal covers for the cylinder heads are missing here. Next steps are washing, drybrushing and add copper wiring. The engine still naked here w/o wiring, washing and dry brushing. Colors used for the cylinders as ALCLAD Burnt Iron on the radial centre and ALCLAD Airframe Aluminium. Basic gear box color is Tamiya XF-66 - toned down with for the darker areas and brighten up with XF-2 for the highlights. otis252
Excellent work indeed. What did you use to drill out the ignition harness ring and the spark plug holes? Chuck Urs

Urs
Excellent work indeed. What did you use to drill out the ignition harness ring and the spark plug holes? Chuck My first idea was to drill out but gave up. A 2nd view on the real engine showed a coupling at the end of the wires connecting to the ring. So l just decide to use a Aluminum tube of 1.0mm/0.4mm and cut them to length and glued them on the model ignition ring. The copper wires l'll just put in the tube endings now.
