started on the fuselage top, there are some things to correct (disclaimer: your milage may vary, the faults in the kit are just my opinion, i love trumpeter kits, everyone is allowed to do OOB builds and has my full respect...did i forget something - i appologize in advance :DodgeBall: )

first i made some templates to cut the PE screen from Aber:

and cut the screen to fit:

the engine bypass vents are very basic, so these will be modified and thinned. for the whole build i will use jakes superhornet book as a reference, its invaluable!

the vent on th right has been thinned:

and some detail added. the cutout behnind it has sharp edges that are not present on the real thing, so i rounded them with some sanding

thank you all, this makes a nice break in glueing a zillion vortex vanes to my scooter

stacks finished (not glued), vents relocated

the flush mounted antennas on the spine are heavily engraved on the kit, so i puttied them and sanded them flush. i think i will use a decal to represent them

  • 2 weeks later...

here is the dry fit, pretty good. since the lower fuselage of the kit consist of seperate sidewalls that have to be shortened to use the intakes, i have first attached the resin parts to the lower fuse

careful to avoid extensive cleanup here:

i only glued the inside and the bottom in front of the chaff ejectors first

and used some sprue and thick CA to get some stability further back

after drying i will try to fit the sidewall as clean as possible and later fit the whole assembly to the upper fuselage part

stay tuned
