Make the others jealous

Recommended Posts

Eesh...sorry guys.

LSP Mike knows how I prune trees :evil_laugh: .  LSP Kev has often talked about the size of the data in hassling our move to new and better digs.  I guess it turned into the Chainsaw massacre...

I deleted anything that didn't seem like it might be useful or contain factoids that might be of useful reference. Anything chit-chatty, birthday, newspaper articles etc...boom...headshot.

I picked up "Coloring Russian Aviation 1909-1922", a series of four books (only in Russian, which I can't read, but it's all about the pictures). They weren't at all inexpensive, but I found them on ebay from the Russian Federation. They are much better than I had imagined, because they take all of those Cold War era books (printed on terrible paper) about the early aviation in Russia of the many factions before and after the revolution and put the old photos in much larger and clearer format along with some great color profiles of one or both sides and usually top/bottom of the aircraft in question.

I particularly like the color photos of some of the paintings that inspired the airplane marking art. This series is just full of color interpretations of the markings, some in new ways, but most with the back up of some large reproductions of the photos of that plane. If you are a fanatic of this relatively obscure era (to me in the USA, at least), this is a good set of books. The markings just cry out for some interesting new decals in our scale.

Those Aces High magazines are very nice to read, and the work that is shown in the artyicles is top work. :speak_cool:  :speak_cool:

And now ... I have something to add ... :D

First up - The last of a set of Classics Publications books I had on order - These are getting very hard to find ... I hope the new mob at Crecy start doing reprints of some of the other stuff soon ...

And today ... a Parcel is delivered from Czechoslovakia ...

Unfortunately the Belgian chocolate had a hard time from some evidently warmer weather through France, India, China and Singapore :( ... Shape issues resulting!! ... Fortunately none of the taste was lost :D ... and the kit, of course, is awesome!!

Of course ... It's always a good idea when buying O/S, to buy "in bulk" if possible, and save on freight ... so I grabbed a couple of correction kits on the list ...

... As for the kit ... a fellow LSPer and I have something rather special in store for this one!! :D

Rog :)

Nice score, Rog!

I'll be anxious to see you do a WIP thread here, if possible. I don't believe anyone has done one, yet. I'm beginning to wonder if this kit is just that difficult or overwhelming, or what? It's really high on my want list, but I just haven't been able to swing it, yet.

John ...

As a rule I don't usually do build threads on here (or anywhere) ... Had this little double trouble group build of ours gone for a bit longer though - I may just have done one!! ... There is a really exciting little project going on behind the scenes at the moment, here - if I told you details, I'd have to kill you! ... suffice to say, I may still have to do a thread when the time comes - for advertising purposes :) ...
