Shenyang J-6 Calling this one DONE 9/24

Recommended Posts

  nice start on the office  ;)

Thanks Loic,  Hope to get it together minus IP today     jack

Trumpies Mig err-whatsoever kit is known to be designed by the "A"-team. Have two at the stash to make on from Pakistan AF and  ...another one.

Well, are there major differences between the Mig-19 and the J-6 except the language of the stencelling and the fact the Chinese scrapped a whole factory-fresh batch due to misaligned jigs and lacking quality control?

Old air force joke: Why has the Mig-19 two engines?

One to overcome the drag of the airscoops, the other one to fly

BTW, asked CMK to make a WarPac pilot with the other common kind of flight suit and helmet, but still waiting to see one...

In fact the helmet was two part: a leather cap, which could be worn "as is" as flight gear (often portrayed with NVA pilots) and an aluminum "bowl" with integrated visor to be added on top.

Keep rolling!

Hi dutik,

Well there are no major differences, number and location of scoops on the rear fuselage and the pitot on the opposite side of the nose, there is the Chinese

only brake-chute canister under the rudder.

Love the joke            and have heard similar about several two-engine jets

Thank you for the information  about the helmet as I thought their was a "Hard Hat" that went over the leather one.

Well, the Mig-19 was infested with airscoops (for cooling the twins at the rear, but it was alwas a "hot rod"), which gave the joke the taste...

The common soviet pilot suit was named VK-3M. A loose-fitting overall with a long zipper at the front and a lot of pockets.
The helmet was known as ZSh-3. To correct my previous post it was a 3-part affair: A leather helmet with integrated earphones. The optional aluminum bowl with movable and tinted visor. And the oxygen mask named Kh-32.

A buddy built the kit some time ago. No fit issues reported.

I wonder what the Chinese equivalent of those items would be?    Probably look Russian.

I have to be careful as the seat  is not to wide, but I found a pilot that I might be able to do al little Dr. Frankenstein on.

 Thanks for the Buddy Report

Well Generalissimo,

You have again shown your prowess and power to obtain photo's not seen in the West.  This aircraft was just the beginning of our rise to advanced development

of modern fighter planes.   We shall soon show the World that The People's Socialist Democratic Republic have gone well passed the Imperialistic ideals of

so-called 5th Generation "Stealth".  They will soon see The Power Of The Worker, but they will not see it on radar or with the Eye!

And thanks for the pictures Sir

Well about the only ROLL I was able to get on today was ROLLING outa bed.

I did do some research and found that this aircraft was credited with the first J-6 aerial victory over  an USAF F-4D Phantom

May 8, 1972 with 30mm cannon fire .Pilot's name is reported as  Nguyen Hong Son

As we know records and sources can be a little screwy, as one source says the pilot of this a/c on May 8 was shot down 2 days later and died during the ejection.

The other source has him shooting down a F-4 on May 23 and Pham Hong Son was flying 6032 on May 8.

I'm going to try to find some more source material and see if I can make a little more sense out of this.

Anyway, these are the markings I plan on doing

Thanks for humoring me

Well I was able to get a few things done like Future the pit this AM and wash, drybrush, and flat coat this PM. Test fitting and removing mall bits of flash

are essential to getting this Jigg-Saw Puzzle to fit.  Not hitting the eject seat too hard as I still have to find a pilot otherwise I'm building an " I'm GONE!"

Shoot-Down Diorama.  Gunsight has to be detail painted.  Making 4 fuselage parts into 2 by gluing front and rear fuselage together
