RFI - WnW Sopwith Snipe - 17Sqn - Hawkinge 1924

Recommended Posts

Thanks to all who followed and commented, as always its great motivation.

This is Sir Peters late Sopwith Snipe. It was every bit the bit-O-kit kit has been reported to be, and then some. Perfect engineering, great fit, crisp molding, great detail, and outstanding Cartograf decals that settled like a dream.

I started this project after having a couple of WIPs that took more R&D than building, or were just less than stellar fit, and this fit the bill perfectly as an OOB feel good build to get those modeling juices flowing, along with an actual sense of accomplishing/finishing something.

Here is a link to the WIP if anyone is interested in seeing how it came together:

Straight out of the box, with the exception of the Reynolds Wrap foil, Prym kintting in thread, Uschi rigging thread, and some Gaspatch ends for the support and control wires, here is my WnW late Sopwith Snipe.............Enjoy!

What a beautiful model and wearing my all time favourite Snipe scheme too, which I did build myself over 10 yrs ago in 1/72nd scale but nothing like your fabulous rendition.

I have a stalled 1/32nd scale Snipe project which was started using a couple of Academy Camel kits as the basis,...the fuselage is all but finished but the wings were just a bridge too far for me at the moment so I`ve just put it away back into the stash!

Great stuff,...cheers,

A joy to follow and as always, new techniques to learn and remember. Immaculate work and the weathering: perfect execution. Brilliant to say the least.

And of course, my favorite period of aviation: The Golden Years.

:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
