dodgem37 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Very nice, Loic. And it fits together! Sincerely, Mark
Loic Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Peter, Paul, Mark, Thanks very much for the kind words
Girlscanplay2 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Once again Loic Great work, can't wait to see more! Teresa
Loic Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 Thanks Teresa ! Once again, slow progress working on the basic stuff/structure. One thing I think is not quite good out of the box is the engine mount. One the one hand, the overall shape and the outside surface are rather good but, on the other hand, I think the thickness of the mount is too small and it should be about twice the OOB size to me. The real thing was apparently made of sheets of stamped and riveted metal which is not quite usual as most radial engine AC used tube assembly. So I did add some stripe of 1x1mm styren along the edges in order to get a "reference" edge Then filled with milliput And this is the result after trimming/sanding/etc... Not the most exciting job but I think it looks much better and more accurate this way... Thanks for following friends ! Daniel Leduc, LSP_Paul, Girlscanplay2 and 2 others 5
dodgem37 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Are the returns to be rounded or flat? Thank you. Sincerely, Mark
Guest Peterpools Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Loic Nice work on the engine mount, as it now looks beefy enough to support that monster up front. Keep 'em coming Peter
Loic Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) Thanks guys I am not sure what "the returns" means indeed but the section of each arm of th emount is kinda square as per pic bellow: Edited August 29, 2014 by Loic
LSP_Paul Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 That looks great Loic, very much like the ZM part Keep up the great work ! Paul
Girlscanplay2 Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 The Engine mount looks much better Loic! Keep up the great work! Teresa
marauderdriver Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Nicely Done Sir!, Will the new mount size interfere with the fit of the engine. I have 2 Trumpy and 2 ZM Skyraider kits and one of them is getting the FULL MONTY watch'in you jack
Guest Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I have a ZM, so watching with interest !........Harv
Loic Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Thanks a lot buddies The engine fits OK assuming slight adjusments here and there... What is giving me headhacke now is the oïl cooler ducting
richdlc Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 looks great Loic - if I can offer an observation - the Trumpeter engine mount is far too 'central' - the arms of the real thing are flared out at a wider angle and attach closer to the edges of the bulkhead. I found out the hard way, but it looks like you haven't glued the two halves of the mount together yet, so it should be easier to fix it if you wanted...
Loic Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 Hi mate, It is too late unfortunatly... but I would not have try to correct this anyway as I do not want to get as nut as you do with my raider build... But, this is creating problems with the oïl cooler ducting build... anyway, that will have to do as it is...
alaninaustria Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Really interesting build Loic! I am enjoying this build very much - beautiful mate! Cheers Alan
