Guest Posted October 11, 2014 Share Posted October 11, 2014 May I make a suggestion, being an old bomb loader, my experience with ordnance was the bombs them selves where badly handled and ruff. On the other hand, all tail sections whether low or high drag, they were pretty much new. Good crisp colors and a satin finish or even clear coat. There's been a couple of things that didn't quite work out the way I had hoped, but overall I'm pretty happy with it and ready to finish up. At least in the Air Farce.......Harv Harvey- You da man I noticed the same thing, but to your point, I think a slightly cleaner sheen would differentiate the tail section a bit more. While researching the bombs, I got the impression that the storage of the tail sections was something along these lines Whereas the bombs themselves were stored more like this... ...or this... ...or occasionally... Finally have some updates The Zuni's were masked and painted with Testors Zinc Chromate Yellow and Gunze metallizer Chrome Stainless Steel. The kit decals for the armaments in general are lacking (typical of Trumpeter kits), so quite a bit of time was spent rummaging through the scrap decals bin to approximate the missing markings. A final shot from above before the wing is permanently glued into place. It's amazing how dramatically the launchers dirty up the feel of the Crusaders clean lines. A nice pic of VMF-235 Death Angles over Vietnam with a full complement of Zuni's on the racks. A similar view for comparison On the deck, loading up Zuni's With the Snakes ready to go... MER's finally mounted on the pylon A close up view Wing mounted! Have a few final details left to go- canopy, refueling probe, and a missing antenna on the spine. Thanks for looking!
