ghatherly
Gary My comment was a general comment not directed to any specific person. I liked your intentions and work. But some folks seem they weren't reading all or to much into it. So they comment was more as a reminder to not let an argument start here on this thread. So I think were on the same page right? Cheers Danny We are, no blood no foul. Gary
spacewolf
Thanks for explaining what happened and why. Going over to ZM to send e-mail now. Cheers guys ! (and KUDO's for keeping things cool and civil !) Vaughn
Radub
In my opinion the "poll questions" were confusing. The best way of "quantifying interest" was to ask something simple like "Would you like to have clear fuselage and wing parts in the kit?" with three answers "Yes", "Don't care", "No". Clear and concise. I saw the clear parts in Nuremberg and in my opinion they enhance the kit. Clear models are great. There are car models with clear shells, there are aircraft carrier models with clear decks, there are aircraft models with clear structures (Phantom Mustang anyone?). They are great fun and eye-grabbing. Radu

To do all the work to assemble and detail the structure, then hide it under skin and paint would be a crime ! Eye grabbing indeed, I know several people here that I can't wait to see work their magic on this model. A neat progression would be the clear skin, then another in bare would and metal, after that ?.. the paint schemes are endless ! I agree on the clear parts, only surface of the ones that have been on show on Zoukei-mura´s booth will have to be reworked to satisfy interested modellers. These parts have the same slightly coarse outer surface as non-transparent standard plastic parts, limiting the transparency. Comparable to clear parts having been airbrushed with a semi matte clear cote, if this makes sense. To get the best out of such clear parts the moulds to produce them will have to be as highly polished as the ones canopy clear parts are done in. Will be exciting to see what, if at all, will be offered by ZM in regards to a clear fuselage for the Horten.
Radub
Hi Thomas, I was there for the afternoon of the 29th, the whole day of the 30th and the morning of the 31st. I did not have a booth, I had a few appointments, so I was a bit hard to "pin down." The surface of the clear fuselage parts shown in Nuremberg was indeed slightly "satin" rather than polished. However, they still showed the parts underneath to a reasonable degree. Radu
LSP_Mike
While I see the satin finish in the pics, I realized the model would have painted and finished interior bits, which will help visibility. A smooth clear, canopy style would seem best, but I don't know if that would entail a significant additional expense.

Macbain
This kit will help build my ever growing (and largely unbuilt) 1/32 Luftwaffe. It's great that there are so many kits coming out in our scale. Can't wait!

A smooth clear, canopy style would seem best, but I don't know if that would entail a significant additional expense. Yes, It does mean the whole wings mold has to be polished to a mirror glass smoothness. Some machine and bits' manufacturers claim they have the equipment to do so automatically, but AFAIK, this remains largely a time consuming hand-made operation. Besides, you would get the same smooth finish on the grey wings, and I am not sure some would not then complain that it is a pain for painting/finishing ... unless you want ZM to have two wing molds ... and then that is even more money ! Out2gtcha
Then again, all of these pics would be considered "pre-production" and nothing might be exactly as we are seeing it here in these pics.................

spacewolf
Just got this from ZM.... I like the way he talks about what might happen... Thank you for your email. The reproduction of the two seat version of the SWS Horten, as well as otherafter parts is planned. Then, concerning the Do335, first we will release a single seat version. Andafter that it is planned to release a two seat version too. Regarding the P-51 B, I love this plane too and I would definitely want toreproduce it but it is impossible to build it from the SWS D type kit.It is necessary to make new designs and new molds from the beginning, so Ithink we cannot reproduce it right now. There is still time before the release of the Horten and the Do335.Please enjoy. Hideyuki ShigetaPresident of Zoukei-mura Inc.
