Gday all

Here is a scratch conversion of an Avon Sabre.

The kit is based upon elements of both the Hasegawa and Kinetic kits. The wings, rear fuselage and lower portion of the front fuselage are from the Hasi kit and the upper forward fuselage from the Kinetic. All of the gun pots and various vents are scratched as is the deeper intake trunking.

Markings are a combination of Souther Sky decals and home made masks to complete the 77SQN RAAF finish.

Enjoy.

Awesome conversion - I really like the sleek lines of the Avon Sabre - and you have captured it very well!

Congrats on a stunning build!

Mate that is excellent! I'm planning on doing this with the hasegawa kit hopefully sometime soon. The thing that really confuses me is the different wings that the sabres came with. I know you mentioned intake trunking, but is there any external differences, apaprt from the armament that I would need to look at?

Great job!

Coool!  Nice looking build man.

Out of pure curiosity, why the Aussie roundels on the fuse, and Brit (looking) roundels on the wings?  (I know nothing about the Avon Sabers)

JD...One of THE nicest Sabre models I've had the pleasure to view.

Have a fairly good idea how much work and care went into this build.  Bravo. :clap2:  :clap2:

Thanks for all the comments lads, much appreciated.

Some answers - for out2getya. Post WWII Australia returned the red centre to its roundel after removing it during the Pacific campaign. When the decision was made to adopt the Roo Roundel it was initially just to be displayed on the fuselage. So there was a period of a few years where the combination of both was found. I can't recall off the top of my head but late in the 60's the decision was made to go to Roo Roundel in all six positions.

For Craig - yeh there are bunch of little changes as well. Have a read of the article that's now up on what's new and it covers the major ones. Good reference material is a must and it can be hard to find, especially  outside of OZ, and there is no one good one that covers off on all of it. The Wilson book "Meteor, Sabre, Mirage in Australian Service" is a very good starting point.

cheers
