Is there any news or rumors/thoughts of when Tamiya will release the F4U-1D?

What was the timeframe between Spitfire versions?

Im not sure what the time-frame was between spitty releases................

But I know that a booklet included with the 32nd Tam Corsair instructions clearly show the kit is in the Vought F4U Corsair  "1/32 Aircraft series" right over the top of pics of the currently released -1 birdcage, F4U-1a as well as an F4U-4:

That clearly says to me that they are going to put out a -1a as well as a -4. Timeframe it still TBD it seems though

Wow...-4 would be great and a surprise too.

I've been hanging off buying the birdcage as like the later marks better.

Thanks for the pic.

Brain

That would be fantastic. Sure hope Mr Tamiya meant that to be a hint of things to come :hmmm:

Already having the Birdcage, a, F4U 1a and F4U-4 would be nearly a year of wonderful builds - The Three Musketeers!

No need for the snark. That booklet that comes with the birdcage focuses as much on the -4 as the birdcage. I don't think we'll get a -4 for other reasons (look at the 1/48 lineup, Tamiya's history of only selectively covering subjects etc), but the prominence of the F4U-4 in the booklet is odd...

Just wishful thinking but you never know.

Well they do have a bit of history, the A6M2 is a wee bit different than an A6M5. I do think we'll get a P-51B.

Yes, agree.

But don't forget Tamiya is a Japanese company and their first/second market is Japan.

Agreed.

Id rather not see any more good members leave because  you decided to inject a "tone" into a thread that doesnt need any, as the OP was just asking a simple question.

You guys are WAAAAAAAY over-thinking this. The "series" refers to the Tamiya 1/32 aircraft series, not necessarily to a 1/32 F4U series. Wishful thinking and daydreaming are fine, but don't be disappointed when Tamiya doesn't do an F4U-4/5/7/AU-1, 'cause it ain't gonna happen. A simple look at the way the kit is designed will tell you that, plus the fact that they have NO history of doing major variants like that. If they did, we'd have seen a Spitfire XIV and a P-51B already.

Maybe................but unless your on Tamiya-sans team  you have about as much factual info as the rest of us; None.

Besides, unless Im completely off it would not seem that much of a stretch for Tam to do a -4hog considering the difference between the air-fames is no where NEAR as prominent as other aircraft variants.

The thing that gets me is still the booklet. It's generally been considered a given that Tamiya won't do a -4 because they haven't done a -4 in 1/48. BUT the booklet spends probably 40% of its length on the -4. I'm assuming it's been printed as a common insert for ALL the Corsairs Tamiya ends up kitting, and could certainly be a hedge of some kind. But if they had no plans whatsoever to venture beyond the F4U-1D, why include the -4 at all?

As for tooling it up, I maintain that if they can do a Spit XVI, there's no reason they can't do an F4U-4. I actually think the -4 would be a smarter move from a sales perspective than the XVI.

Not to say I'm expecting it or anything. But I think it's within the realm of possibility and probably easier than some other variants (P-51B/C) would be.

There is absolutely no difference in our wishful thinking about what's the next Tamiya kit will/might be, as all the other numerous wish this and that, would be made threads.. The point is, why the comment at all, if so negative? We all know we have a big ZERO when it comes to an inside track - but there is no harm in wishful thinking and sometime, maybe just sometimes, a wish comes true.

I think some speculation is OK, and if someone doesn't agree, do it civilly, please. I know I'd like to see a Tamiya -1 Corsair, a P-51B and A-36, as well as a Spitty Mk I and Vb. Of course, I'd also like to see a Camel by WNW, but I'll leave it to them.

I wasn't being snarky.  Just trying to inject a little bit of realism.  People go running off on these tangents as if the world will end if they don't get their favorite pet variant, even when there's a slightly less than zero percent chance of it happening.

Actually yeah you were. It's posts like your last 2 that contribute to the afor mentioned negative attitude some members have been feeling lately.

I guess congrats are in order since you obviously are now working for Tamiya. I assume you'll be posting the future Tam F4U lineup......or otherwise all ur doing is the same as the rest of us; stating ur opinion.

FYI since u don't seem to understand what snarky means, your second post is a very good example....more so even than ur first.

Since your the obvious SME on everything Corsair what say u leave this thread to those of us who want to keep things light and enjoy the guessing game aspect of these types of threads.
