Hi my friends,

I had allready started to built the 1/32 HE-111 P1 of battle of britain era, and i need your help.

I would to ask if anybody knows, what is the correct color of the cockpit ? the rlm 02 or the rlm 66?

Thanks in advance

According to all I have seen or read so far it´s RLM 66: at latest during the BoB all areas visible through a cockpits glazing had to be painted this colour.

thanks mister Wurzacher, but i am confused because i know that the order to paint the cockpits with the 66 gave to the crews in 1941!...after the battle of britain!!(?)

...and the eduard prepaint photo eched set is in 02....??

any any case....i am trully thank you about your help

Not pretty sure on the exact dates but I think the He 111P that was restored in Norway already has the cockpit in RLM 66. Despite being downed in 1940... Will have to check my AeroDetail on this, though.

In my opinion Eduard´s pre-painted photo etched parts are not the best reference in determining a colour. When doing my Ju 88 here on LSP I had to be rather "flexible" to adapt my cockpit colour RLM 66 to the tone Eduard gave their PE parts...

Maybe you can find some more references of the aircraft you are going to build. But most important: keep the fun!

I faced the same problem when building mine, but I went with RLM 02. I wasn't trusting of the Heinkel in Norway as that has been extensively rebuilt and I have the feeling that most information for the interior colour is coming from this aircraft. I looked high and low for a picture of the interior but just couldn't find any and those taken from outside in black and white, it was just impossible to tell and given the fact that Revell give you the extremely helpful description of the interior colour as 'grey', I reckon they don't have a clue either.

maybe a inside cockpit photo at the early war '39-'40 of he111 it should help me!

i was looking all my reference (including aerodetail and kagero publishing) ....i found some "inside early photos" but i am not sure about the color....it seems to me very dark to be rlm 02!!

I suggest you check with Guttorm of the Norwegian museum who has posted many time here

He will be able to tell you for certain whether Thor bird was originally 02 or 66...
