P Stoner Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Just got in the mail the new KF-16D kit. I would do a mini box review but unable right now. I can report that this is simply the SUFA kit w/o decals in a new box. I picked this kit up for $85 and free shipping. The box list this kit as a "special edition" with limited availability! For the price I was expecting just the D stuff, but this is the entire kit minus the decals! Are there any AM decals for the SUFA? This would be a cheeper way! Paul
LSP_K2 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 If I'm not mistaken, IsraDecals make some. They may also be included in these books, but I'm really not sure about that. F-16I Sufa 2005 F-16I Sufa 2009
SR10user Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Isradecal IAF-88. Sprue brothers has them in stock too.http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/isd0088.htm HTH, Dave
P Stoner Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 Well, what kind of colorful US twin seat vipers are out there? Or any have pics of cool D's!! Paul
DoogsATX Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Well, what kind of colorful US twin seat vipers are out there? Or any have pics of cool D's!! Paul If I understand correctly, US -Ds are primarily used for training, apart from some aggressors. I may be wrong though. Big fan of Hellenic Air Force -Ds. I'm just getting a HAF D Block 50 off the ground now, but here's a Block 52 with the same conformal tanks as the Sufa: And here's a Block 50 Poland flies Block 52s as well:
Youngtiger1 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 USAF does not use any F-16D for Aggressor role, however, the Navy does have F-16B that are used by the NSAWC.
DoogsATX Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Here's a -D Block 25... Here's two Block 30Hs with the 18th Aggressor Squadron (as of 2008 according to F-16.net)
Zero77 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 (edited) Would it be possible to build a F-16F block60 from UAE with this kit? Is it P&W or GE powered? Edited October 25, 2013 by Zero77
Dave Williams Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Would it be possible to build a F-16F block60 from UAE with this kit? Is it P&W or GE powered? The Block 60s are GE powered. The Academy kit has both intakes/exhausts in the box, but there are a few differences that you'll need to tackle on your own like the spine, nose, and a few lumps and bumps. Isracast makes a conversion set for the Sufa kit. It's strange that Academy never released the Block 60 on their own, as there are some unused parts in the box that are for the Block 60.

No. The D's are fully mission capable and part of each squadron. They just carry less gas. The first AMRAAM kill ever was by a D model on CAP during Southern Watch. P Stoner Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 What decals are out there for a two seater? The kit has both intakes and exhaust, basically all the SUFA stuff! To make a B I think I'll need a different rudder base and landing lights! Me without my computer!!! Paul

I'd like to try the wolfpack block60 conversion for some time, but it is a F-16E and i'd prefer a 2 seater, as i already have 4 F-16C. Edited October 25, 2013 by Zero77
Dave Williams Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 The Isracast conversion is for the twin seater and is made for the Academy Sufa kit. The Wolfpack conversion is for the single seater and is made for the Tamiya CJ kit.
Dave Williams Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 A couple of things to consider. I don't know if the KF-16D boxing has new IP parts, but I don't remember the Sufa kit having a "normal" D rear IP in the box. Also the Academy kits have the bulged MLG doors and wide wheels making them suitable for Blocks 40/42/50/52 and up. Those photos of US two seaters above are Block 25 and 30, and you'd need new wheels, struts, and gear doors to make them from the Academy kit.
