Your dedication to correcting the errors is remarkable, keep up the work. This sort of thing is not something I could accomplish as I find it difficult to focus for long enough on one thing so I am more than happy to build OOB 'cos I'd never finish anything.

Work that has not been done or whether or a not the manufacture has errors in the kit, has nothing to do with building skills and the quality of work on the contest tables. In my day I was both a IPMS National and Regional Contest Chairman and that's how the rules were applied. Judge the quality of work before you .. don't assume anything else, as the contest is about building not how accurate a manufacture's kit is. Peter
Silver Dollar Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 As for your show, the judges won't mark your model against the kits accuracy, they will mark your skill in building it. Which raises a good question..... Hypothetically, If I were to put my finished average build but corrected next to your beautifully built OOB model, which one would win? You've done a better job, but I've done more work? You'd get the first prize for sure. The only extra work I've done on my model is the foil finish and a couple of plywood floors, which are nothing special and surely no where near perfect. If judges were to compare the work done, mine is basically box stock while yours underwent surgery and is going to go through more surgery and it will come out looking just as good as mine only more correct. The surgical scars on yours will be invisible. Good modeling is where a builder does a nice job putting a toy airplane together neatly. A great builder turns a simple kit into a museum quality miniature replica through modification and craft. Dan Paxton 1

I have been Deer and Hog hunting much this fall, which can be rather boring at times, but fortunately I have 4g service in my stand and tablet computers are a wonderful thing to make those slow times pass by more quickly. Have not been able to build models much right now, but have been watching this build with great interest. Just want to offer words of encouragement, and tell you I am rather excited and looking forward to how you are going to narrow the Fuselage and make it to scale. I am a jet guy, but I am learning a lot just the same and keep up the fantastic work!! Blessings, Gary

I am going to tease you all now and tell you that I've narrowed the fuselage now and it looks soooo much better, even before I round up the top and bottom. Once I've done some top and bottom surgery I'll post some pics for you all. I honestly think more modellers will carry out this mod when they see the difference ? Nige, this is exactly what I'm waiting for. Unfortunately, I'm too far along to make that particular change.

I love watching a full on effort like this come together, I am always amazed at how neat some people can make their styrene work look! Fantastic effort mate, I am really interested to see how the rear fuselage narrowing ends up. I have a similar thing to embark upon when I attempt to backdate my B-25j to a c/d. Cheers, Craig
