Success! The trickiest part of this build is no longer an issue! Have manged to coax the Aires main gear bay into the Revell laminar flow wings! Wasn't easy, and in places resin and plastic are paper thin, translucent, but I did it! This is a test shot, the bay will be glued to the wing after it was painted. The bay had to be enlarged at the front.

Big sigh of relief, so glad that the resin bay squeezed into the wings, the alternative would have been to scratch build the whole thing, not impossible, but a time consuming task for sure.

One is more accurate in outline, wing profile, and so on but lacks details, while the other has major accuracy issues -  rear fuselage and fictitious wing profile being the more blatant.  If you want accurate shapes you go with the Revell kit or wait for a decent P-51B/C to be released in plastic. Or you could screw accuracy, go the comfortable way and do the Trumpeter kit.

A minor accuracy issue was addressed, the small size of the landing flaps:

Given the NMF/silver nature of the finish, the wings received a coat of Mr. SURFACER after all the raised details were obliterated. Waiting for it to dry, the Trumpeter windshield was mated to the Revell fuselage. Six cuts later, a perfect fit was achieved!

A pair of flaps found in the spares box was modified to represent the lower half of the landing flaps.

While the top parts shall be engraved on the wing halves, as the wing shape overlaps almost perfectly on plans, with only a barely noticeable shape issue at the wing tips. The flaps on the top are narrower by two millimeters at the wing root, and three millimeters outboard. They were covered and new ones will be engraved.
