ericg
I was thinking about the loadout for this model and I really wanted to do one with the CBLS 200 practice bomb dispensers. I am not aware of anyone that makes these particular units, so I conjured one up in google sketch up (a CAD program) and printed it out on my 3D printer. All I need to do is work out which bomblets the RAAF machines carried and I will make those up as well. Here is the Master, I will cast this one up and refine the resin unit and then recast it once I have put some additional detail into it. I also 3D printed a casting block: Ready for moulding. Tomcatfreak
Flighpath UK did the CBLS-100. Its good to have the 200 series too! I think we Germans used the 200 series with our Starfighters!! I will buy two CBLS

ericg
Here is the BDU-33 that I have just finished, well, this one is the first draft anyway. I have made it in two pieces so that I can cast it and they have been placed together in these shots. I will modify this one slightly as there is still some work to do. (it does look a little `fat' in these pics) Here is how I did it. A block of evergreen plastic, a dremel and a scalpel...... I drilled some brass rod into the guts of the plastic so that the dremel had something to grip. Here it is placed inside the CBLS (this is the first resin copy of my CBLS master) for fit. Looks OK. I will make the mounts soon. Whitey
ericg
I managed to get the HUD completed, this is a very trick part of the kit and very fiddly. The kit HUD glass is pretty thick so I sanded it down and then polished each piece to make them nice and clear. after a few attempts to get it right I finally was able to superglue each part into place. I then dipped the entire assembly in future and am very happy how it came out. Another part of the kit I wasn't happy with is the two holes either side of the rear fuselage. It is possible to see straight through to the other side. I used a cotton bud stalk to fill in the holes and as they are put in at an angle it is now not posisble to see straight through. There is a bit of hardware that should be on the rear fuselage above the horizontal stabilizer, which I knew I wouldn't be able to live with if I didn't add it. I couldn't fit my circle template into the space required to scribe one of the inspection panels, so I punched an appropriate sized circle out of some of the photoetch sheet with my Waldron punch and die set. ericg
Here is the BDU-33 in resin. Fiddly little things but they came out OK. The 2 that I have done so far are my test units to see how they fit in the CBLS pods. I still need to refine them slighty to make them perfect and then I will mould them so that I am able to do many at a time instead of 1. I have moulded the bracket mechanism integrally with the Bomblet so that they are easy to cast and there are less parts to worry about. the fit longitudinally: The fit laterally. ericg
Hi dan. Yes they are one part moulds. I find that one part moulds are easier to use but they don't last as long as they get more if a work out when releasing the part. Glad you are enjoying the thread. Guest Peterpools
Eric Immensely enjoying and learning a host of new techniques all along the way. Fantastic work on the HUD and the rear fuselage details. Simply stellar work. Keep 'em coming
LSP_Kevin
Great work as always Eric! Those little bombs look tricky to cast, but they've come out beautifully. Kev

geedubelyer
Looking good Eric. Neat work on the bomblet carrier. That could prove to be a popular item.

ericg
Here is the master for my inner pylons, I had a bit of a look around on the net and couldn't find anything suitable to hang off the wings pylon wise, so I will add this to the list of things that I will bring out for this kit. A little bit of refinement still needed but reasonably happy a the result. Whitey
