Radders
Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. After speaking to a few guys at SMW I decided to join up.I aquired this kit from John Wilkes ('Tigger' as I'm sure many know him on here) with plenty of scratch building stuff from Telford. It's going to be a slow start, especially with Christmas around the corner etc!Anyway, here's some photos. Johns done me quite a few spares of the clear parts just incase I screw up! (..there are more wing sections/cowlings I just didn't photo them)http://www.flickr.com/photos/radders84/8192036179/'>http://www.flickr.com/photos/radders84/8192036179/'>MB9T3002 by http://www.flickr.com/people/radders84/'>Rainbow 1984, on Flickrhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/radders84/8193123182/'>http://www.flickr.com/photos/radders84/8193123182/'>MB9T3003 by http://www.flickr.com/people/radders84/'>Rainbow 1984, on Flickrhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/radders84/8193122974/'>http://www.flickr.com/photos/radders84/8193122974/'>MB9T3004 by http://www.flickr.com/people/radders84/'>Rainbow 1984, on Flickrhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/radders84/8192035551/'>http://www.flickr.com/photos/radders84/8192035551/'>MB9T3008 by http://www.flickr.com/people/radders84/'>Rainbow 1984, on Flickr Edited November 26, 2017 by Radders sandokan

Out2gtcha
Very interesting! Im always keen to see what others can do with vac kits like this...................I have yet to take the plunge with a vac, but the only vac kit I currently possess is complete rubbish, but happy to compile tips and tricks till I get one worthy of being assembled. Guest
OH, this will be good ! No vacs in my stash either, and I don't think there will be any for quite some time. Love to watch this one, though Very interesting !.............Harv
Iain
As discussed @ Telford I'll take a look at engines and let you know... Looking forward to seeing you crack on with this! Iain
KOTR
Hm, there's a suspicious amount of vac builds going on there, lately, and funny enough, I cut and sanded some parts too, tonight. I may post some pics the next few days. Anyways, I'll follow with great interest Edited November 17, 2012 by KOTR
Tnarg
Very interesting start. Which plane are you planning to do? Vector resin engines might work for you, depending upon the specific model number. The manual for the Lodestar/Hudson/C-60 is available at: http://www.flight-manuals-on-cd.com/ for about $20 as a download. It has some interesting detail photos. Have fun with this, Tnarg
geedubelyer
Welcome aboard Radders. I am in awe of modellers who take virtually blank sheets of plastic and create a recognisable aircraft from them. Good luck with your project.

Hubert Boillot
I'll watch this one with interest ! As for the engine, Vector makes a very nice Wright R-1820 (with only the caveat that the 9 cylinders are not evenly distributed around the crankcase - it may not be an issue for some, but it is for me and I am currently reworking a correct crankcase ). And Hubert.
Iain
Our engine discussion was around suitable kit one's we could put into rubber and cast copies - I have one to do as well Iain
Radders
Thanks all, this is my second vacform kit, my first is still a WIP too, a quick photo for all. It's a 72nd scale Sea Wolf. Untitled-11 by Rainbow 1984, on Flickr I couldn't resist yesterday, was a nice day so I set about starting this although my plan was not to just yet. The moulding is great, fuselage all sanded and fits together a treat, the nose is slightly bowed but thats not an issue. I just cut the wings out to see how big this thing is, it's sat next to a roll of 1" tape for size but measures in at just over 2' wide Granted not as big as some vacs on here though! Regarding what aircraft I'm doing, unsure on reg but I'm going for a Costal Command scheme with a lifeboat slung underneath. I'm going to carve a boat from balsa and then vacform it.... hopefully can arrange something with Tigger for that. MB9T3013 by Rainbow 1984, on Flickr Very interesting start. Jaosn S
Ambitious project and cool subject, Hudson with boat under the belly should look really cool. I'll keep an eye on this one. Cheers, Jason
