1/32nd Lockheed Hudson (Tigger Vacform)

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. After speaking to a few guys at SMW I decided to join up.

I aquired this kit from John Wilkes ('Tigger' as I'm sure many know him on here) with plenty of scratch building stuff from Telford.

It's going to be a slow start, especially with Christmas around the corner etc!

Anyway, here's some photos. Johns done me quite a few spares of the clear parts just incase I screw up! :)

(..there are more wing sections/cowlings I just didn't photo them)

Very interesting! Im always keen to see what others can do with vac kits like this...................I have yet to take the plunge with a vac, but the only vac kit I currently possess is complete rubbish, but happy to compile tips and tricks till I get one worthy of being assembled.

Hm, there's a suspicious amount of vac builds going on there, lately, and funny enough, I cut and sanded some parts too, tonight. I may post some pics the next few days.

Anyways, I'll follow with great interest :)

Very interesting start. Which plane are you planning to do?

Vector resin engines might work for you, depending upon the specific model number.

The manual for the Lodestar/Hudson/C-60 is available at: http://www.flight-manuals-on-cd.com/ for about $20 as a download. It has some interesting detail photos.

Have fun with this,

As for the engine, Vector makes a very nice Wright R-1820 (with only the caveat that the 9 cylinders are not evenly distributed around the crankcase  - it may not be an issue for some, but it is for me and I am currently reworking a correct crankcase ).

And :hi:

Thanks all, this is my second vacform kit, my first is still a WIP too, a quick photo for all. It's a 72nd scale Sea Wolf.

I couldn't resist yesterday, was a nice day so I set about starting this although my plan was not to just yet.

The moulding is great, fuselage all sanded and fits together a treat, the nose is slightly bowed but thats not an issue. I just cut the wings out to see how big this thing is, it's sat next to a roll of 1" tape for size but measures in at just over 2' wide :) Granted not as big as some vacs on here though!

Regarding what aircraft I'm doing, unsure on reg but I'm going for a Costal Command scheme with a lifeboat slung underneath. I'm going to carve a boat from balsa and then vacform it.... hopefully can arrange something with Tigger for that.
