ffuzeira
Dear, Besides the F6F-3N Osprey - Hellcat Aces, anyone knows a reliable profile Hellcat F6F-3 fully midnight blue (dark blue)? Thankful. Fábio
LSP_Mike
Fabio, If you are going to do a Dark Sea Blue Hellcat, it's a pretty standardized paint scheme. I think the only variations are the Tactical markings.
LSP_K2
I'm not real sure that the night fighters were painted anything other than dark sea blue.
D Bellis
The vast majority of F6F-3 Hellcats were delivered to the US Navy in the 3-tone scheme was factory applied, regardless of whether it was an E or N night fighter subtype. The very earliest of F6F-3s were delivered in 2-tone Non-Specular Blue Gray over Light Gray, after that they were all 3 tone Sea Blue, Intermediate Blue and White. That 3-tone camo carried through into the first few of the F6F-5 production, after which the scheme was changed to the late war overall Gloss Sea Blue. For an F6F night fighter in overall Gloss Sea Blue, your only safe bet is an F6F-5E or F6F-5N. HTH, D
ffuzeira
D I have a horrible 1/32 F6F-3 Hellcat from Trumpeter, not to throw it away, I was looking for a reliable profile of a plane in dark blue, which is more than my standard. Thank you. Fábio
Mr Creosote
I believe since you have the F6F-3 Trumpeter kit you can build it as a F6F-5. And paint it in the dark sea blue scheme. RD
