Derek B
Here's another A-36 pic < http://www.flickr.co...049/6854874313/ > Notice above the 2nd exhaust the panel on top of the intake. I have some drawings I will have my son dig up later today. I see the panel Dan, but I would need more evidence to support the broader/larger intake idea, so I look forward to seeing whatever you may dig up! csavaglio
Really, anything for the early Mustang series would be seriously welcomed by me. The Vector cockpits have been rumored for long enough that I've gotten to just expect it never to exist. Even Eduard forsaked the HC Stangs.....I've got 2 in the stash and built one (cockpit with some scratched details and closed canopy). I'd love to build them up, but it's difficult to get going on them knowing how much work will have to go into the cockpits and wheel wells to get them to look right. I'm going to try to fit the Aires P-51B wheel well meant for the Trumpeter kit, but I won't know how that goes until I start mutilating plastic. Please keep in mind that there's differences in the cockpits of each. C

I have no idea what the cockpit looks like in the particular early Mustangs...and has anyone got cockpit information for the A-36, A-36A, P-51and P-51A so that I can work out the detail differences as you have suggested? Also, it looks like I now need to get may hands on a kit, so if anyone wishes to part with a spare kit, please contact me off line or by PM please? Many thanks Derek
Derek B
Just a further thought here; Does the Hobbycraft kit contain the four 20mm cannons of the P-51/Mustang 1A?...and if not, do I need to consider these as well? Thanks Derek

Sharkmouth
Juanita Franzi, of Aero Ilustrations, is drawing up scale plans with a lot of input from the folks at P-51 SIG. In the meantime, I did pick up the book and will compare its plans to what Juanita has posted so far. This is the book from MMP: Regards,
csavaglio
Derek, The In Detail & Scale book would be about the only reference you'd need to do one up. It details the differences in seats, bulkheads, etc. and has great photos of several different cockpits, including the A-36 in Chino. Here's the link for the Cybermodeler Mustang page. If you drill down from Kit Reviews, 1/32, then select each one, they reviewed most, if not all the boxings. The P-51 Operation Torch boxing also came with the cannons. csavaglio
Yep, I sure did....... http://www.cybermodeler.com/aircraft/p-51/p-51_all.shtml Hopefully someone nearer by can get one of the kits to you. They share main cockpit halves....the nose is seperate and version specific.....so fitting a cockpit to one will fit to all, even if the details are different. Derek B
Well, I have just had word back from Sergey (Vector Models), and he is about to release quite an extensive range of AM parts for the HC P-51/A-36 this summer, so it looks like all of the bases will be pretty well covered by Vector already. However, I am very grateful to you all for your suggestions and inputs for this kit and it now looks like I shall not be proceeding with any AM parts for this kit unless there are still items required for it after Vector have released theirs.
