K5IKL
This two year project is finally finished. It was going to be in VF-84 markings using Yellow Hammer decals but they ended up being totally useless so went with the kit decals for VF-151. Used the Avionix Navy seats and Rhino resin wheels which are really nice. Cheers. Jerry

Daywalker
Very nice looking Phantom Jerry! I am curious about the Yellowhammer decals, what was the trouble with them? I have a set for my F-4J, and would like to avoid a possible pitfall with them. TIA!

K5IKL
Very nice looking Phantom Jerry! I am curious about the Yellowhammer decals, what was the trouble with them? I have a set for my F-4J, and would like to avoid a possible pitfall with them. TIA! Hi Daywalker, I had two sets of the Yellowhammer VF-84. On the first set the decal (the wing insignia to start with)came apart in the water. Coated the remaining insignia with Micro Decal Film and it looked fine until I started to slide it off the backing paper and it too just fell to pieces. Went to the back up set and got the insignia off the paper onto the wing but it to fell apart as I started moving it around to position it and went from bad to worse as it totally came apart when I started blotting it down. Thus. switched to the kit decals but they were no picnic either but at least they did come off the paper and did lay down. The problem with the Tamiya kit decals (done by ScaleMaster) was that they don't have enough clear film on the outer edges and the edges break off when moving them around and blotting them down. The insignias were especially bad about that problem. I partially solved that problem by going around the edges with some decal film. Then on the other hand yours may work fine. Daywalker
Thank you for the explanation! I shall have a very close look at mine to see if I can spot any trouble before dipping them. I do hope they are OK, as I have wanted a VF-84 bird on my shelf for a very long time! Appreciate the help!
