miamiangler
Hello everyone, a new project I started on the 4TH of July. I was planning on doing the kit OOB but didn`t like the 70`s style seat belts. I will use very little AM on the kit and try to scratch build as much as I can . Only AM I will use Started with the exhaust by adding some scrap PE to give it some depth The engine went together very nice just parts 163 needed some reworking by drilling out the hole adding screening and using lead fishing wire to finish making the rings. That`s it for now . Willi Edited July 31, 2011 by miamiangler

miamiangler
Thanks everyone for the kind replys. Here`s some more work that I did on the engine and cowling . I added #3 fishing wire bent to fit as the engine supports for the cowling ( 9 of them ). It took 10 minutes to make and an hour to get them to fit . I made the blast tubes out of rolled paper ,also added interior detail to the back part of the cowling. Here`s the interior painted up OOB NOw this is where the fun starts ! After some searching the web I found one photo that shows the ribbing. most of the ribbing wont be seen ,but I know it`s there . http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0PDoX.ujjhO5y8AkZKjzbkF/SIG=132rep6in/EXP=1312358190/**http%3a//www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php%3fshowtopic=60902%26mode=threaded Here`s another link that has helped me , http://skyraider.allaboutwarfare.com/files/luftwaffe/Ar196/Ar196.htm Thanks for looking Willi Edited August 3, 2011 by miamiangler

miamiangler
Thanks Matt, I remember your link I have read it ,very nice .Before I started this project I searched and read every bit of information I can find .I will put all the links on here so anyone building this kit won`t have to spend hours searching ! O.K. here we go with some more of the build : I moved Part 77 to the correct position . I am not sure what the box is but it was copied from the Eduard PE instructions and it is also in the photo in the blogspot . sorry the photo`s are not the best . http://falkeeins.blogspot.com this is a good site just look up arado196. I added a table ,not sure it is correct but I think the kit one is to small. added the decal gauges and 6 switches top right box I put the eduard seatbelts on the seat which makes a big difference also added twisted wire for the hoisting cable. I have finished the dash board using some PE from my spares box and added Airscales decals .I found the 1/32nd a little to large for some instrument dials and used 1/48 ,1/72 in their place. That`s it for tonight ,Thanks again for everyones comments . Willi Edited August 4, 2011 by miamiangler
miamiangler
Today I`ll post the reconstruction of the cockpit area. I used the Eduard and HpH resin 196 as a guide and put my spin on it .All materials used was sheet plastic and different dia. of plastruct. After cutting some of the boxes off the braces I just glued the sheet plastic in place and let it dry overnight.I painted the interior of the fuselage a red-brown primer used as a wood/fabric sealer as stated in the Monogram color guide. I used the arm rests from the kit .Just lowered 4mm Two halves together ,so far so good it fits together with no problems . Made the box larger and moved alittle forward . Filled the boxes on part 41. moved and made larger boxes for the flare holders . This weekend I will be working on the exterior of the Arado . Here`s another link to check out . http://www.historicflight.cz/html/main.asp?Ing=eng&page=walkaround&subpage=Ar_196 Edited August 5, 2011 by miamiangler

miamiangler
Thanks Kev , This is my first WIP and most of the inspiration came from reading all the posts on this site (Past Year). There are many great modelers here that really build some jaw dropping aircraft . Willi
