Guest Peterpools
Thanks John Looking forward to finally finishing my Jug. Of course, I just received my Kagero P-47D book with an awesome set of decals included. Jut have to save it for another Jug down the pike.
Guest Peterpools
Thanks Kev Much appreciated. Glad I decided to head back to MM enamels as the finish just seems to be that much smoother than acrylics.
Guest Peterpools
Thanks Brian Glad asked and received some great advice on enamels and the choice of thinner to use. The smaller pigment size of enamel just produces a finer finish to these old eyes. Looking forward to wrapping up the Jug in a few weeks and then starting my SWS Skyraider. airscale
very, very nice Peter - always had a soft spot for the Jug and this one is looking superb Peter
Guest Peterpools
Nige Thanks so much for the compliments. After the Jug I'm planning on doing the SWS SKyraider, with the wings folded. I bought all the SWS detail sets for the Skyraider, as well as the AMS upgraded gun sight and HSW belts and harnesses. Still trying to decide on the color scheme and markings, as I just keep vacillating between two different schemes. Nothing like not being able to make a decision. Guest Peterpools
Peter Very much appreciated. Sure looks as if the second set of cloths did the trick. Being a native Long Islander, anything made by Grumman and Republic are in our blood and as with you, I have a special fondness for the Jug . Guest Peterpools
Thanks James Appreciate the compliments. Took a few tries but the Jug should now be close to the home stretch.
Guest Peterpools
UPDATE: THE HOME STRETCH With all the assemblies, decaling and basic weathering done, it was time to start seeing how everything mated up. Luckily they're haven't been too many problems and all went well until I went to work on the gear. Fit wasn't good and I needed to carefully remove any traces of paint from the mating lugs to coax the struts into place. Right now, they're on and drying: I have my fingers crossed all goes well. Hopefully with in the next few days, I'll be rolling the Jug out of the hanger and onto the flight line. All that remains to fit and add: the pitot tube, aerial mast, the 8-.50 cal machine guns, rearview mirror and of course: the flaps, drop tank and assorted under wing lights. Some weathering caulks and I hope I can call the Jug done. Thanks for checking in Edited September 1, 2013 by Peterpools

Plm
Hi, nice Jug. One more thing you have to do for your P-47 to be finished is to complete the fuselage national insigna. The insigna is painted inside the radiator exhaust . Regards Edited September 1, 2013 by LSP_Kevin Images removed at OP's request

Plm
Sorry again, but as the way you've placed the side star and bar seems strange too me, I have searched some picture of the real plane. From the picture I've found, it seems that you have misplaced the "S" of the code, it is not close enough to the horizontal tail, and that makes that the national insigna is placed too much forward. For me the right position is as shown on the two pictures I've posted above. Hope my explanations are clear. Regards.
