Trumpeter 1/32 RNZAF A-4K "Kahu Upgrade"

Recommended Posts

Thanks guys!  I really appreciate all the encouraging feedback, really means a lot!

I am quite enjoying bouncing between this and the Mosquito.  I do need to see where we are at with the first test cast for the cockpit upgrade so I can refit and make sure I am happy with it.  Might start looking at the 'hell holes' and where I need to start there for internal details.  There is still a lot to do before the fuse can be closed up.  But working on all these other bits is a good distraction and will mean that when the fuse gets buttoned up things will move fairly quickly

Cheers guys and thanks again!

Anthony

I was just on Amazon and ran across a very interesting looking DVD. The Product description says that it is over 80 min. long. Couldn't pass it up, so it's on the way. Have you seen this?

Yep, you will enjoy that, its a really good DVD!

Oh I so want to do this cockpit on my Model...I wonder how far away Roy is to producing it? Must email him

There is also a great book on RNZAF Skyhawks by my good friend Don Simms

Thanks for posting the link, I'll definitely check it out.

It is apparent that both of our Skyhawks are languishing at the moment. Not for lack of enthusiasm though!

Can't wait to see more. Such precision work so far Anthony, sounds like you're waiting for a cockpit. Interesting that there are so many NZ Skyhawks either done or in progress here. It's an interesting and attractive bird.

I think he is pretty keen, he has even had the inst panel  decals printed already.  I am just waiting for the masters to do a final test fit after he has added his magic touch to them.

The RNZAF A-4 DVD arrived in the mail today. I thoroughly enjoyed the introduction to this aspect of the A-4 story. It was something to see a line of Skyhawks going through the streets of Auckland after being unloaded from the aircraft carrier! Now it's time to get the book you recommended.

Hi Anthony - how are things with you? - haven't seen any updates on the A4K or the RNZAF Mossie for  a while - suffering withdrawals waiting to see an update:)

LOL, caught out!

I've been busy on my Auster rebuild.  My engineers have me on a few deadlines and modelling had been on the backburner.  Not from lack of want to get stuck in again.  I have been working on my rear bulkhead and First Aid box as well as several other brackets etc.

How about you how's your Skyhawk coming along?

Great to see you are restoring an Auster - a real classic - had a minor setback with the A4G when it flipped backwards off the modelling desk to the floor with subsequent damage but back on track again after a session in the panel beaters!

Well great recovery mate, you would never know....superb result so far!

Yeah, the Auster is a T.7 variant I am rebuilding back to 'stock' factory military configuration...Quite the challenge finding all the original equipment!

Found your Auster WE552 on Facebook and it looks like a real quality rebuild  - thanks for positive comments on the A4G

I see on the barracuda Facebook page that  Roy is ‘finishing off a lot of projects’ before he goes to the nationals. Are any of them ours?

*fingers crossed emoji
