He 111 P2 detail thread

Recommended Posts

Fantastic! I just bought the 1/32 scale HE-111 and Ju-88 so this thread with accompanying photo's is right on time! Hi everyone, I'm Steve, a new member and can't wait to get started on these kits! THIS forum is heaven-sent, I can tell already...These photo's are going to be SO helpful with my builds, I can't begin to tell you.

I'm a 1/32 scale aircraft and 1/35 armor and personnel enthusiast. 1/48 is ok, and I have plenty of built examples; single, twin, and four engined, but with my older eyes these 1/32 scale kits are a life saver. I have several 1/32 scale single engine fighters and fighter-bombers, but only one BF-110 night fighter, so I'm really looking forward to partaking of this thread...mostly watching and taking notes...and of course, meeting you all.

Great forum. I've been reading with enthusiasm several threads on here in the past few days...Loic's unbelievable Miss Kate, Russ's BF-110 with the 'humped' nacelle's :speak_cool: and others so I already feel the connection with some really great mind-blowing modelers. You guys are amazing!

welcome onboard :)this site is awsome..only websie i have been on where everybody is on the same page and no bad talks. just a bunch of great guys in here :)

about the Lion picture..that is not a P BUT the curtains are the same :) just for correct details ( as i know a few in here goes that extra mile.. hehe )

I see a well known Czech manufacturer will do this curtain as a colour printed photo etched part for the modeller to bend the cuttling in one by one using a bending tool, hehe...

Little guy reminds me of the small lion that Roscoe Turner used to fly with. Lion's name was Gilmore and after he got to be 150 Lbs, Roscoe had to put his foot down and say no more flying to the big guy. Roscoe's RT-14 "Champion" is in the Smithsonian, as is also Gilmore. Roscoe had him stuffed after the old boy passed. He just couldn't part with his big cat.

Hey Guttorm! thanks so much for starting this thread. Following your build as well. Was wondering if you had any pictures of the bomb-bay or wheel wells? especially the wheel wells as the one picture i've found shows a good deal more visible detail than the kit has.

Thanks again!

Cheers,

Jerry

Thanks for this great thread Guttorm,

I only just found this by accident. I think it should be pinned with the JU88 and F86 picture threads.

I haven't been on here since I finished my F-4 in the group build section. (I've bought a 1944 Ford GPW which I'm restoring, so I haven't been doing any modelling)

I really should get back into my JU-88, or should I just start on my HE-111?

Hi Guttorm,

I have started a build thread in "Work in Progress".

You'll see pics of the etch available for this kit, and my attempts to fit it. I have a problem in that the Eduard Bomb bay has all the bays divided into four sections, and one bay in each bank is completely walled off.

Can you please help??

I've just noticed a further error with the Revell 1/32 kit. It's not really a biggy, but if you're building one of these, it's a pretty simple fix...

The rear bulkhead is too far back. If you look at Guttorms pics you'll see that the rear bulkhead is flush with the rear of the gondola. In fact the bulkhead is faired away at it's lower edge to give better access to the gondola.

I've made this bulkhead now, and glued it to the top of part 299, which is the bottom of the bulkhead with the faired bit.

Hope this helps those looking for that "little extra".
