Like it Phil, its really coming on great.

Look on the bright side, at least it will be nice and warm where

your working

Thanks Martyn and you are right there's a nice big Rad just out of shot which is handy given the weather here at the moment.

An added bonus is that I can look out of the patio doors at all the t*ts in the garden!

Phil

EDIT: It comes to something when the computer anti profanity device doesn't recognise the proper name of a native British bird. Its still a t*t as far as I'm concerned. Hmm, it will still let you say bollocks though so it can't be all bad.

... and I thought nobody is looking in on my thread B) .

The reflector of the landing light looks great, Phil. I must say your execution is way better than mine ... and you've found another source of the heavy foil! Yay!

One last thing!

The next time some Mr SmartyPants comes on these forums showing off his new uber designer workroom with all the bells and whistles (you know who you are! )

Give a thought for those of us having to do this stuff on the dining room table on a bloody plywood tray!!!!!

Awesome work Phil. That landing light technique is a beauty, and thanks to Tomek for bringing it to LSP! A question for you though: did you have to create a depression in your sponge sander before forming the shape?

Just catching up on your thread, Phil, it is looking great!

For lenses for the landing lights, would the heads from the small pins you get when you buy dress shirts from the store work? The ones here in the States are silver and egg-shaped and I think would look good if they are the right size, and I think they might be close.

At any rate, the cockpit is looking great!

Yep the source of foil is good except you get fat instead of plastered!

We are watching your build but methinks we don't have enough superlatives in the English language!

That light socket looks spot on man! And,chin up,I have had several places where the kitchen table was a step up! Try working on models in a barracks.

J

Thanks Jerry, perhaps we should start an extreme modelling thread, the most dangerous/inappropriate places people have worked on a model (model kit that is!)

Those lights are awesome!

Thanks mate, I hope you are sorting out your foil too!

No doubt familiar with the famous bollocks court case http://www.acc.umu.se/~samhain/summerofhate/courtcase.html :speak_cool:

I remember in the late seventies being at the Central Middlesex Polytechnic expecting a good punch up where a new band called the Sex Pistols were playing.

No real problem although I did manage to lock up the bass player of "Public Image Ltd" for a pocket full of weed once! Ahhh! Happy Days!

 I bet that person has no Idea what your talking about....

Sorry, I was having to move all my stuff to have my dinner. What person are you talking about?

As long as you have something behind the foil Kev with a bit of give in it it seems to take care of itself.

I just start in the centre with little circles and work outwards. The foil seems to lift off the sander with only the dome of the light still in contact.

Good game to keep the kids occupied!

Thanks Ray, I saw Tomek use a bead and it looked killer, luckily I got my lenses yesterday.

These are the lenses I get in the UK, they come in all sizes up to 5mm and in the main colours.

I'm pretty sure they are very similar to MV lenses:

The 1.5mm seemed about the right size so dropped in with gators Grip as it dries clear and glued to the inside of the wing:

I've finally finished the main part of the cockpit by installing the Nav's seatbelts.

The top mounting is not quite right as the refs show it going into the armour plate above the cushion but I had already

glued the cushion in. It needs shortening to expose about 2mm of the plate above it.

Nasty Macro lens time!!!!

I've been working on the two main panels that go on the stbd sidewall.

The fuse box needed a strange blob molded between the left side 4 cables removing.

P3043082.jpg

The second panel has the Airfix dials to go in. The one on the bottom right is a bit sunk so I may attend to that later.

In the refs the top of this panel has eight small switches and two sets of two buttons which appear to have safety caps.

One set is for the IFF self destruct stuff.

The kit molding of this area was very poor so I removed it all.

I made plates out of 5 thou card to mount all the bits on.

The switches are 0.4mm lead wire thats been flattened a bit.

I drilled some 1mm plastic rod in for the base of the 4 buttons then used 1.2mm rod sanded on one side to make the flip tops.

It looks a bit rough this close up but trying to draw tiny black lines across the end of a 1mm button is fun!

In the real light of day and at normal distance it looks ok.

I also added a voltmeter on the panel using an Airscale decal which is in the refs but not in the kit.

Im busy working on getting the wings together and with detailing the cockpit walls. Yummy!

I couldn't explain it better. An eraser or a sander gives some support and allows better control over the burnishing process.

The light lens really tops your landing light. Looks very realistic.

Are you kidding me, Phil? In macro, the boxes are even more spectacular! I love this kind of modeling pornography :D.
