Wow, Wolf, as always nothing short of stunning! What paints do you use and what did you use for a mask if you dont mind me asking?

Cheers for the inspiration

Wolf...if you go into your Photobucket account and dump a number of your old and unwanted pics(can save them to your PC pic folder) these should pop back up.

Thanks Bill. I tried deleting a whole pile of pics in my photobucket account but nothin' has happened so far. Might have to wait until tomorrow to see if the pics pop back up. If not I may have to pay the piper but I'm hoping to cheat him for a little while longer.

Cheers,

I think we need Charles to chime in on this. From what I understand, the band width exceeded problem has nothing to do with the number of pictures you have loaded but rather the number of hits you get on your album. When you become too popular they shut you down wanting payment for commercial use?

I could be wrong. Anyway I recall Charles has some alternative hosting sites to try. I'll ping him now....

Hi Dave. Yeah I figured that out kinda quick. I also had to cut some of the masking material as it had distorted when cut and had pulled away from the inner portion of the roundel mask. I think I'm going to try Mal Mayfield's Miracle Masks next time though. I'm really likin' the masking process even though it takes a bit longer.

That's it exactly. The bandwidth quota should reset at the end of their monthly cycle. Seems a bit early in the month to trigger the threshold though. The message about paying to go pro is really about paying to have your bandwidth restrictions abolished. It's a higher-level, less restricted service.

Hi Anthony The paint I've been using is Tamiya's spray lacquer paints decanted in to my airbrush cup. This paint is almost foolproof and lays down so smooth without hiding any of the surface detail. In fact I think it almost enhances it. The blue portion of the roundels was painted with Model Master Insignia Blue and even though it was very well thinned it almost hid the recessed rivet detail underneath. I was unimpressed given the way Tamiya's paints had laid down. I add a little lacquer thinner to the decanted paint before spraying and I also set the container that holds the decanted paint in some warm water to assist in de-gassing. It's amazing to watch how much gas bubbles up and out of the paint and it can take up to five minutes or so before it's ready to thin and then spray. I've had a little trouble with Tamiya's grey primer but the white is incredible smooth and I prefer to use it over the grey.

For masks I photo-copied the painting instruction guide supplied by Tamiya. I enlarged them 150% to get the right size and then cut out the sections I needed and applied them to the model with small strips of rolled Tamiya masking tape to hold them just off the surface of the model. It gives you a very tight demarcation line but not a completely hard edge. You probably already know this technique though.

I hope that helps and as always, thanks for the kind words!

Wolf

Exactly Kevin. That's what I've experienced so far. I figured as I was just a few days in to the new month there wouldn't be an issue but that's apparently not the case.

For the time being until you get your hosting sorted, Wolf, here are the latest pics posted (I think I got all of the topside shots). BTW, try just setting up a second account. I use Flickr for my hosting and have 3 free accounts haha.

Spectacular work!!

My pleasure! Like I said, try opening a second account. I use multiples (due to capacity restrictions, not bandwidth haha)

Thank-you Ian! Much appreciated. When I get to doing the markings on the Big Tamiya Mustang I'll be sure to contact you. Where are you located?

That's correct, Ron.

I recall Charles has some alternative hosting sites to try.

In addition to my free account at Photobucket, I have a second at Picasa Web Albums, which I prefer due to its (in my opinion) somewhat friendlier user interface. Many other free photo hosting websites are available, of course, but I have no experience with any of them. In any case, spreading one's photos over two or more such websites has the advantage that it becomes harder to surpass the "bandwidth" (actually bytes transferred due to image views) limit on any one of them. The downside, of course, is an occasional need to ask "Now where in $@%^ did I put that &O*(*%# photo?" -- but I don't find myself muttering that very often.
