Trumpeter Bf 109 F-4 Trop, II/JG27, Libya, February 1942

This is an oob build apart from Eagle Cals decals(superb) and a Quickboost trop filter.

Original build thread here: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=31093

Paints were mainly MM enamels and clear coats.

Weathering was done with pro-moddeler washes, Tamiya weathering palettes and both wet and dry chalks.

I've tried to depict this aircraft in the Libyan mud during the winter of 1942.

No more talk, just lots of pictures:

Another beauty Phil! I'm now sold on this kit after seeing the finished photos. The rivet detail really does it for me! Not sure I'll be building an F out of it but it's on my list now. Thanks for giving us a proper look at this kit. :punk:

Cheers,

Don

You have done one nicely detailed build, Phil. Of all things, I just love that boss! Something about those silver speckles that create a contrast between them and the RLM70 (that is, I presume the boss is 70). I sure hope mine turn out as nicely as yours.

Good show.

Sincerely,

Mark

Thanks very much to all of you for the very kind words.

Mark, yes the boss is RLM 70.

I was doing a bit of dry brushing on the prop blades and

I wanted to get a worn look to the spinner.

Some time back I cut down an artists brush to remove sanding dust from panel lines:

Its pretty stiff and works well for that.

I used this very much in the same way as dry brushing.

After removing most of the paint on a paper towel I "stabbed" it onto the boss in a few areas.

Using the ends of the bristles gave the effect I was looking for.

Much simpler than other methods I've used and I'll use it again.

Thanks for looking in.

Phil
