fam43
Hi folks. I was at "Tankograd" since spring and did three tanks. As a proof one of them. (hope I don't break any rules by showing it)
fam43
Now it's high time to to leave the heavy metal fraction and return to the leightweight guys again. I choose a Bf 109 D of the famous Legion Condor. Eduard will bring a conversion kit for their Emil soon. It will cost around 35,-€! Add 45,-€ for their Emil and you will be in the region of around 80,-€! My God this is a hobby no investment font! I still have some Matchbox Emils I bought them for around 5,-€ in the late seventys of the last century. This will do it. First I shortened the engine hood of the Emil and sanded off all bulges from it. All openings were closed. A warning: The plastic of the kit is very brittle (due to age?) Shawn M
wow that armor looks great, more please.
fam43
The underside of the hood was made from a surplus old jet engine of the Hasegawa Me 262. The new chin cooler is a simple box of plasticcard.
fam43
In earnest Shawn M? Well you can have one more.
fam43
To get a new smaller and round front I used a roadwheel of an old tank which I found in my trashbox.
DougN
Don't foget that AlleyCat already has a very nice family of A/B/C/D conversions out for the Eduard E1. Get the weekend edition Eduard kit and one of these converions and you're all set: http://www.a2zeemodels.co.uk/messerschmitt...-set-4996-p.asp Going to be fun wathcing this build nonetheless Cheers, Doug
fam43
Hi Doug, where is the fun in it? Like to use up my sparebox full with long gone teenage dreams.
JRutman
I like your low tech approach. Right up my alley! Love the heavy metal as well. Or,as they would call them on this website...targets.
Allok
Check it out! I was all set to do this exact conversion, using the exact same kit and everything but abandoned the project when I heard HobbyCraft were releasing early 109s. When that didn't come to fruition, I decided to use the Trumpeter kit and the Alley Cat conversion. So I'll be very interested to see how you get on with your project. Best of luck. Looks pretty good so far. In earnest Shawn M? Well you can have one more. Just one!? ... As they would call them on this website... targets. Nice one Jerry. Perhaps one of us should start a topic in the General Discusion area so we can all post some armour...
LSP_Kevin
Great project Michael! And your armour is very pleasant indeed. I'm currently working on a Matchbox Emil myself, and am finding the plastic to be quite hard, so I'm assuming it's probably quite brittle too. Akondo
I thought the same thing with the Hobbycraft kit. I am wanting to do a 109 V7 from the 1937 Zurich air meet. What ever happened to hobbycraft...did they go belly up? Akondo
LSP_Kevin
What ever happened to hobbycraft...did they go belly up? Not in so many words. They're still around I believe, but have effectively withdrawn from the scale plastic model market. This is according to an announcement I read on another forum earlier this year. If I can find it, I'll link to it here. Kev
MikeMaben
Still have a website. Kinda looks to be in limbo as far as model a/c tho. http://www.hobbycraft.com/
