The rusty and smoky patina was done with MiG pigments over the previous painting steps-

I swear I can hear jet noises.

Hello all-

got the vent holes in the tailpipes located and drilled out. I was searching the web for techniques to weather aluminum, and came up with all sorts of alchemy- but in the end I just smeared raw umber and Payne’s grey oil paint all over the aluminum and after an hour just feathered it off with a clean rag.

pretty cool!

Wow!  How'd you make the rivets out of epoxy?

super easy-

mix up JB Weld 2 part epoxy and take a sharp toothpick (or whatever) dip it in the epoxy, and tap it where you want it to go.

practice a few times off the model to be sure you can get a consistent size..but not a hard thing to master. The JB weld is thick enough that it stands proud easily and retracts to a convincing dome shape-

pretty cool.

cheers
