and now I'm back, and finally made some progress...

I hope you like my progress so far...

Hi Dominic, excellent work here mate. Considering how popular the Mustang is, I find it amazing that more P-51 builds don't appear in Member Builds. Anyway, you are doing justice to a lovely aircraft.

Tell me, how'd you do that very convincing looking chipping in the prop blades? Looks great. ;)

Cheers

Ango

-RWKennard,

thanks for the kind words. Indeed I will make it a great addition to my previous build (which is, the Focke Wulf Fw190) and by the way it's great to see another Kiwi in the forums.

-Perry,

Thanks for the compliments, I'll keep you guys posted.

-AngoMango,

I would like to thank Jamie Haggo for the paint chipping technique. It was demonstrated on his Hasegawa P-47 build and it looked very good on his model. I probably wouldn't be able to explain the method as clear as he would, so your best bet is to ask him. After all, it's his technique and not mine.

... and we will return with more progress on this build... somehow...

Some construction notes on the Dragon kit so far...

1. The floor of the kit's cockpit part is too narrow for the mounting tabs in the fuselage halves

2. The bulkhead that holds the engine is too small for a flush fit

3. The seat seems to be placed a bit too forward - I will leave it as is

4. The fit of the kit tailwheel is snug and tight

5. The propeller blades apparently are incorrect, the kit makes you install them backwards

... So far so good...

managed to get the fuselage together. I didn't finish the engine because no-one will ever see it when it's done. the fit is not great, I can assure you that. the next photos show some places that need special attention.

Good to be building it again,

Dominic
