Iain
Hi Iain, may I ask where you obtained the drawings ? Hi Mike, From one of the many books I have - it's not a 'scale drawing' but gives vertical station dimensions: Iain MikeMaben and sandokan
Iain
Yay - I've found my canopy 'master' - needs a fair amount of adjustment, but will save some time! Iain LSP_Kevin
Phartycr0c
Christ on a bike Iain, I knew this thing was big but now the wings are on its mahoosive! makes my B17 Dio look tiny. Is she coming to Telford?
Iain
Lunch time and the sun is out - excuse the state of the grass - someone mentioned B-17... Connie is about 50% longer, and quite a bit bulkier - photo with Cameron is deceptive as Cam is behind - so this should give a better idea, or maybe not? Iain
OK - that windshield area that I thought I'd lost... The pattern is built up from a base-plate cut to size, the remnants of the sections cut away from the fuselage mouldings, a fill of casting resin - then individual plastic sheet windows (7 of them) cut to shape and applied. Here the 'panes' have had inconsistencies filled and then sanded back - circular motion on 800 grit wet and dry on glass surface - being very careful to keep each pane perfectly flat and with sharp jointing corners. Pattern is over tall - will be trimmed down to fit fuselage. Once trimmed for height I'll cut out openings for each pane and replace with clear PETG sheet. Next stage with pattern is to make a female mould in plaster which will then be used to form the plastic shell on my dental vac forming machine. Have fun! Trak-Tor
Great pictures. It's really some piece of plastic... Nice progress. Juraj Out2gtcha
Iain
Lots more progress - with wings fitted and bonded with another 2 Oz of 30 min Epoxy - excellent stuff! Need to adjust the mounts for the tip tanks - a little nose high at the mo - but easily fixed! Have fun!
