We're back!

The show was a total success, with up to 500 models on display and with a large variety of subjects. From racing corvettes to a 1/10 Spitfire Mk.IXc. I will elaborate on this at a later date. But for now...

... The results for all 8 of my models are as follows...

IPMS Nationals results:

1/32 Hasegawa Fw190 A8/R2 (this particular model): 1st in Junior Aircraft and Best Junior overall

1/32 RoG Fw190 F8: HC in Junior aircraft

1/32 Hasegawa Bf109 E-4/B Trop: 1st in dioramas

Scale Models Expo results:

1/48 Tamiya Fw190 A3: 2nd in Junior Aircraft

1/72 Academy P47 Razorback: 1st in Junior Aircraft

1/72 Hasegawa Me262 B 'custom paint scheme': 1st in Junior Sci Fi and Misc.

1/32 Revell/Monogram Bf109 G2 'Eagle Down': 1st in Junior Dioramas

1/72 RoG Bf109 G-10 'The Aftermath': 2nd in Junior Dioramas

The prizes and freebies I took home (admittedly, they were better than what the adults had received :D ) :

1/32 Dragon P-51D Mustang

1/32 RoG BO-105 PAH-1 'Tiger 16'

1/48 Airfix Saab JA37 Viggen

1/48 RoG SH-3H Sea King

1/72 S-3B Viking

1/24 Airfix Bf109 E-4 (started, but not finished)

1/72 Italeri Fw190 D9

... It was a great weekend if you ask me.

Cheers,

Dominic

Dan,

Thanks for the compliments. This model was quite a wild ride and I'm glad that it has established a name for itself. I am sure I will be spoilt for choice with all these models.

Ted,

I'm not sure whether or not plans for the D11 will continue, but I will let you know as the date draws closer. I will try and get some of these models out of the way to make room for the Fw190 D11 project. ;)

Cheers,

Dom

Ted,

Yeah, I won't forget about school. . I'm planning to trade my helicopter kits for any aircraft kit that catches my eye (especially the Fw190 D9  ). I will do my best to go get me one. At the moment I am being tempted by my P-51 Mustang kit.

Dave,

Thanks for the kind words on my Fw190. Your D11 looks exceptional, and I'm still thinking of what D11 scheme to do.

I will seriously try and get some more pictures on this thread,

Dominic

Oh I almost forgot... :o

For those who are planning on builing themselves a Sturmbock, converting it from the Hasegawa kit the way I did it was pretty easy and straightforward...

1. The applique armor on the fuselage was from .020" sheet styrene

2. The canopy blinkers were from .023" half round styrene strips

3. The windscreen armor was simply simulated by painting the frames on the kit part with XF-69 Nato Black

4. The ejection chutes are made by using the alternative kit part

5. The Mk108 ejection ports are opened up and closed up by sheet styrene, to prevent the see through look

6. The Mk108 cannon blast tubes are from some aluminium/aluminum tubing

7. the trough fairings are made from round toothpicks sanded to shape

... and that's about it. A simple and cost-effective way to convert the Hasegawa Fw190 A8 into a grunty Fw190 A8/R2 (or R7 or R8 if you prefer...)

Cheerio,

Dominic ;)
