Well - the wingnutwings.com domain is due to expire on the 24th of August if nobody renews it...

Iain

That doesn't bode well at all...

But I too now have the archived files!

Yes, but not the site itself.

Shame someone couldn't check the php version of it's hosting server.

The 500 error could be due to an incompatible version of php for the website package.

Chances are that won't happen by server admin or site owner/s and the site is in memorium... 😔

I seem to recall that the site was running on Joomla (or perhaps it was Drupal?), and those packages have any number of dependencies that can cause things to go awry when not met. All it takes is for an automated update to take the software beyond what the server provides, and it's game over. It can go the other way, too, where the server gets an update that creates incompatibilities with legacy applications running on it - and you can bet that the CMS running the Wingnut Wings website would be in a legacy state by now!

 Indeed.

I have had many a grumpy message from site owners when cpanel has one of its myriad updates and things break. Generally no biggie, but to site owners... 😬😬😬😬

Gentlemen, I honour you for sharing your knowledge. I believed that viewing Wingnut Wings' amazing website during its healthy years was a simple matter, as everyday ordinary and uncomplicated as a brain scan, hip replacement, wide bodied jet safe landing in an increasing cross wind or childbirth. Argh!

A little of my ignorance has been lanced like a blister. Though somewhat sad about maybe losing such a high quality resource, I fell better. Thank you all.

I don't suppose one of you blokes has got Sir Peter Jackson's mobile number at all? Maybe a brief text could see the glitch fixed like.

I reckon someone at Kotare would definitely know how to contact him

I just had a go at  The Vintage Aviator website (another PJ's operations).

Got a page full of HTML code... maybe this is connected somehow? Maybe PJ is pulling out of everything?

Have a look here: https://thevintageaviator.co.nz/

I'd be very surprised if they're not hosted on the same server, so both sites having server issues is not surprising. The only thing that is (surprising), is that the errors themselves are different.

"Can't connect to local MySQL server "

Potentially its database is gone...

Could be other things, but there's no connection to the database.
