Where do your completed models go after you're gone?

I have about 40 completed (mostly 1/32) planes in display cases that will have to go somewhere after I'm gone. That will become an issue soon, and I presently have homes for two or three of them at most. Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do with them?

Donate them to a museum or similar.  Like many of us mine will most likely end up in the bin.

For me, it's the building of the model that is the fun part.. Once built, I know they are going to end up a victim of Mrs Shoggz's dusting regime!

It won’t be my problem so I’m not too bothered! I hope my son will choose one or two but his house is a tenth the size of mine so space will be the usual issue.

I've left instructions for my executors.  Offer them to any appropriate museum, or anyone else who wants them; if not, to the tip with them.

Completed? What's that? I managed just one (well, two if a fuel bowser counts?) in the last 18 months.

 

However, with the day job only lasting another two and a bit years, that will change!

 

As for what happens to them when completed, I'm not sure, and as others have said, my enjoyment sort of ends when the build ends.

The museum ship in Corpus Christi, the USS Lexington has a seriously nice model display, I would love to donate mine to them but I’m not sure my building is up to their standards … I’ve less than a dozen built, would love to find a home for them. 🤔

Gentlemen, consider the power of your models to delight, inspire and perhaps motivate children. Why not offer some of your models to your local primary school? Perhaps a little small charge could be asked, proceeds to the school fund. Will your masterpieces become toys? Probably. Will they get broken? Of course. Might one or two get repaired, perhaps multiple times? Aha, that could be the first act of a new modeller.

My favorite thing is to simply leave a model I no longer want, perhaps even a flying one, at a school playground so that somebody happens upon it and claims it.  It is likely none survived the day, but the brief thrill for some kid at the moment of discovery is better than a quick trip to the bin.

Of the couple hundred built, I’ve donated almost 40 to the Legion museum here, gave another 10-11 to grandkids and the rest will be my wife’s problem if I (hopefully) die before her and will I’m fairly certain be given to grandkids or thrown away. In any case I won’t be around to complain about it and as noted earlier, the enjoyment is in the building, once it’s finished it means nothing to me…other than a few old kits I kinda hold and caress now and then. Ooops, never mind
