1/32 nd Revell : Seafire

Hi all,

 

My second in the GB is the old Seafire kit.

Kindly given to me by my LSP friend Jack .

 

It's the Spitfire kit with some extra parts to turn it into the Seafire.

Very basic simple build.

In the original box, I can´t wait to see you build this (I have had it nearly started several times)!

Oh my. 

 

I think I have that one 60% finished but I gave up on it. 

 

Unfortunately it is a bit too clunky to produce an accurate model but I'm confident you'll have fun with this one Erwin. 

I look forward to seeing how it turns out.

All the old Revell molds are not for those that seek accuracy and detail.

It's for builders like me that got stuck in time,never evolved and just build for fun.

This kit dates from 1969 !

So don't expect a super detailed build.

I shall be happy if it looks like a Seafire in the end.

Fuselage is done.The "cockpit" can be added later from beneath.

 

This build takes me back some 50 years when I bought my first 1/32 nd Spitfire with the BoB box.

Not yet glued.

It will need a lot of work to join the wing and fuselage.

Very bad fit.

But I can do it to show an acceptable result.

Those enormous gaps were one of the main reasons I shelved mine. 

Will you add the moustached pilot Erwin? 

 

I thought the workable landing gear looked wrong 

Possibly the gear legs are too short in order to retract? 

It will be interesting to see how your's stands soon.

It does not look too bad when built, this is my ancient effort probably from the late eighties or early nineties, still in the display cabinet, awaiting Kotare to bring out a replacement kit.

The main build is done.

The gaps turned out to be an easy fix with some leftover plastic and filler.

A base coat and camouflage paint will fill any tiny gaps.

 

Next pictures will be of the finished build.

I'm going for a "museum" look (as always) .

Sea grey /sea green topside.

Light grey underside.

Classic Spitfire pattern.
