Thunnus Posted June 23 Author Posted June 23 It's strange to lose such a large part. And yes, I definitely had it at the beginning of this build since I modified both legs to accept brass tube axels. I have a feeling they will turn up eventually. If not, I will mull over how to create a replacement. They are relatively simple. scvrobeson, Kais, LSP_Ray and 1 other 4
HiFiCoffi Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Końcowa, poprawiona wersja tekstu Hi John, I've been following your builds with great interest for quite a long time; they were all extremely inspiring and entertaining. I did this kit some time ago, though with a different camo paint scheme (Italian three-colour camouflage scheme), and was hoping to see another amazing WIP from you, but this misfortune with the lost landing gear, gosh, not good. 😒 But as I understand it, you still have one left, so why not try 3D scanning and then 3D printing? It would be a shame to put this project away. Good luck, John. Thunnus 1

HiFiCoffi Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Either way, go with this project, it's very promising. Mustang can wait. Thunnus and Troy Molitor 2

Mark_C Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Just a quick note on that AM landing gear - if it's made by SAC, you may want to reconsider. I've not read many positive reviews of their products. For example: https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/95126-question-regarding-sac-metal-landing-gear/ They may have improved since then, of course. Thunnus 1

I've heard enough negative things about SAC products that I would not consider them for any normal circumstance. However, in this case, it might be the easiest way to replace a lost piece. I'm still holding off on that purchase since the lost piece (I'm hoping) will turn up somewhere, somehow. Mark_C 1

LSP_Ray Posted June 25 Posted June 25 I hope you find the missing piece, John! I think the SAC gear would be ok in this case. It is primarily a vertical force on the gear the way the Italians designed it, so it shouldn't bend over time. Most of the gear that have problems are canted with an offset wheel, like the Spitfire. ROM Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Hi John As I have the kit, maybe I can try to 3d design the legs. Then I would send the file and you could make it print by a friend near you. Or I could send it at shipping cost. I wanted to do this anyway for my build. Let me know Romain Thunnus, Kagemusha, LSP_Kevin and 5 others 8
Thunnus Posted June 29 Author Posted June 29 Thanks for the support and encouragement. I'm sure all of us have encountered the carpet monster on occasion and can relate to my experience. I don't have access to a digital printer and clueless about that so I would probably be interested in having the legs sent to me. Thank you! I'm still hoping the lost kit leg shows up somehow! ROM 1
Mal_Belford Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Looks mighty good. And yes Anyz extra ads alot, love their stuff. Thunnus 1
