I like what you have done.  Instead of sanding and losing detail you've marginally extended the surface.  Brilliant!  A suggestion that strikes me for next time:  Instead of using the rounded stretch sprue, use Evergreen or Plastruct pyramidal pieces.  Less filling and a super sharp trailing edge.  Or, use their half-round pieces.

 

I've used this technique a few times myself (I like to think I pioneered it, but probably not!), and the round stock does indeed work best. No fiddling trying to get it to join at the right angle, and you need the CA for strength anyway. And, oddly enough, the round stock is easier to sand to a sharp edge!

Thanks guys!  Appreciate the dialogue!  I'm terrible at locating holes on plastic so marking by spraying through the holes gives me a better chance at the pins actually lining up correctly!

 

 

Moving from the instrument panel to the sidewalls... I've added a little bit of detailing to the resin parts.  On the starboard side, the inconsistently cast buttons on the large panel were cut off and replaced with toggle switches from ANYZ.  I fashioned an oxygen hose from copper wire and added it to the oxygen regulator.

 

On the port side, the levers were cut off and replaced.  I also added a throttle linkage rod to the throttle quadrant.

 

The sidewalls and the central switchbox were given a coat of primer (Mr Primer Surfacer 1000).

 

I wanted to spice up the cockpit floor a bit but was at a loss of what to do given a lack of references.  But I stumbled onto this photo while trolling the internet...

 

That gave a couple of ideas to work with: adding wiring to the floor and putting some small details on the top of the control stick, including a firing button.

 

Here are the cockpit parts primed and posed together prior to painting.

Thanks Matt and Troy!  But I'm sad to report that this build has just screeched to a halt.  I've managed to lose one of the landing gear legs!  Now I'm quite used to little fiddly parts getting lost to the carpet monster but a 1/32 leg is not exactly small nor easily lost. I've checked all of the likely places around my work area including the trash can but found nothing.  I have a feeling it will turn up at some point in time so instead of expending the effort to replicate the part, I'm going to box this one for now.

I've got enough in my stash to start something else interesting and I've already started looking at a particular kit.  So stay tuned for that.

If I were you I would try to recreate the leg... it's very unlikely that you'll find a new PCM g55 kit. Probably you didn't have that leg in the kit from the get go, since it was already open.

Check your trouser cuffs/turn-ups, if you have them.  Ask me how I know, 😐
