Exactly. Yet another excellent reason to wait.

Wait to see how much better ZM did with their P-51B, and at what price.

Wait to see how bad Eduard botched the wing root (still no pics online of a built model).

Wait to see what the price of Eduard kits/boxings shakes out to be.

Patience is a virtue.

Is Z-Ms a 'B/C' ? Looking at the silhouettes[?] It kind of resembles an Allison version[ to me at least] and that would be ok too . It does seem as if Eduard are a little secretive with certain things LIKE the wing root for example. They just came out with a price [of sorts].

What's the issue with the wing root?

Simply put, the shape of the wing's leading edge at the root is too thick, as Eduard carried that same error over from their 1/48 kit. This has been discussed ad nauseum for both their 1/48 B/C and upcoming 1/32 B/C kits.

However, until we see pics of a built 1/32 model, it is impossible to tell how bad it is (as in how much it affects the finished model's overall accuracy).

Thanks for the info......I've somehow thus far managed not to see any discussion at all about that point!

Anyway, I never noticed it on my 1/48 Eduard P-51Bs, so hopefully I can ignore it on the 1/32 kit as well. In any case the Eduard kit's got to be a big improvement on Trumpeter's effort; I know ZM is also developing a 1/32 P-51B, but given the pace they work at it's entirely possible that I won't live to see it!

Once you see it, you can't unsee it.  Basically, the leading edge of the wing near the root should "droop" for the lack of a better/correct term but it's straight on the Eduard kit making the entire thing seem overly thick.  I've also read that the proper "blown" cross-section of the Malcom hood is hosed primarily due to molding limitations used by Eduard.

Until then, sad to say, I will stick with the lower cost Trumpeter kit, add a few low cost details parts, and keep the kit around $75 all in.

Congrats Rob, very nice build!

I remember that through this forum, Tolga Ulgur also did a great job with this kit:

If it's a toss-up between Z-M and Eduard I'm going with Z-M. Don't really care for Eduard's "attitude".

My sentiments exactly!

The prospects of having two new 1:32 P-51B/Cs to chose from is something I thought I would never see. What a day!

The only thing that would excite me more is a couple of new good quality P-38s, both early and late.

you and me both brotha - lordy a new tool 1/32 P-38 (early versions included) would just be insane. But yes, to keep on topic, having two P-51B options in new-tool is a wonderful thing to have

Don’t like? Don’t buy. It’s never been that simple 🙂

I am going Eduard on this one, I can't bear the thought right now of the over complexity of ZM kits. There are times in my modeling life where I wanted every possible detail, but now is not that time.  Also I know I can buy one of these before long so do not plan to wait on ZM to answer the call.  I have two ZM kits on the shelf, I plan to tackle those and never touch one again.
