Does anyone know if Thai Pham with TTModelworks is still in business?  I obtained one of his 1/32nd AD-5W Skyraider's in a raffle at Modelmania 2026 but it was missing the windscreen.  All attempts at contacting him to get this piece have gone unanswered.  It appears that dealing with this guy is like a black hole, nothing comes back.   I know someone else who ordered one of his 1/32nd AD-5's 3 to 4 months ago and all attempts to get an update on his order have also gone unanswered.  It doesn't appear that Thai is too interested in staying in business.  Be very careful in doing business with him.

Good luck. Last I heard from him was April 20 even tho I've sent a handful of cordial, "hope things are OK, any news?" sort of emails.  I have an AD-5 from him during the initial run, but the last 6+ weeks have been crickets. 

 

Last email was promising the Panther I pre-ordered early March would ship after his wedding in early May. I had also bought another skyraider during his pre wedding sale and that should have been ready to go. 

 

I actually just filed a dispute thru my bank for both kits a few days ago and I'm waiting to see what happens. 

 

Maybe one of the few who got both a printed and vac canopy can help you.  Also promised to me. 

 

I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, but after no kits and not even a short email response, I can't wait for it to be too late to dispute it.

I have a pending order for the AD-5 and the Panther. Paid in advance.

Got similar correspondence stating goods would be shipped after his marriage.No further vital signs ever since.

Is marriage so dangerous?

I sawThai a year or so ago at Modelmania in Houston and I confronted him about his lack of responding to e-mails and filling orders and he didn't seem to really care.  His only response was saying that he was trying to do better.  Guess not.  Why go into a business where filling orders and communicating with your customers are a top priority?  But, there seem to be a lot of one man bands like this that I've seen come and go over the years, who put out crappie products and don't care.  They make what they can promising modelers great products, take your money, then disappear hoping their customers won't make the effort to chase them down.

I wouldn't say his products were crappy, actually the opposite. Just very unresponsive and gave the feeling that I wasn't going to get what I paid for. I liked the first kit enough to order another and preorder the third.

 

I didn't experience it, but I'd seen some stuff where some folks received damaged parts from packaging that could have been better, especially overseas, or were missing parts, but were never able to get replacements. All going back to poor communication and broken promises. 

 

Phase Hangar, Sierra Hotel, Flying Leatherneck, etc are one man shops with much more extensive product lines and sometimes have long-ish wait times for shipping, but generally emails are answered fairly quickly to say what's going on or post on FB regularly.

Tbf, I didn't pay in advance for the second ad-5. It was not a preorder and was supposedly ready to go. 

 

At the time, Thai was still responding and I had the first kit in hand already.

I didn't mean to imply TTModelworks produced crappy products, but I was thinking of several others who have put out pretty bad parts/kits over the years who took advantage of those who were wanting to buy them sight unseen.  I do have his 1/32nd AD-5W (minus the windscreen which was missing from the kit) that I won in a raffle at the Modelmania 2026 show on May 2nd.   I think the kit is pretty well done and it would make a challenging project to do.  I just want to get this missing part, or trade him for an AD-5/A-1E which I am more interested in, but he doesn't respond to e-mails (from me or anyone else it seems) in a timely manner, if at all.  The last I heard was that he was building a shed in his backyard and moving all of his printers and opts into it.

The last Email I got was around 2 1/2 months ago. He was helping his mother with health issues. I was asking him about a decal sheet, but that hasn't gone through as of yet. No further word since . That he is building a workshop/shed is new to me. He has always been slow on the emails, oh and his site is still up , take that for what it's worth.

It sure can be as you know from first hand experience. It also seems to be a more common business model[ not saying its' a good one[ doesn't really set well with me]. Witness how long some h.ave waited for their Jetmads kits to arrive or even get shipped. It depends largely on the company ,look at Airscale for example. If I could afford it I wouldn't have any heartburn about preordering something.

Does that part of Texas have a Fraud squad?   I’ve preordered a -2 Panther, sent a email request to change it to the -5 with the same results of many here, not a peep.  I may have to contact my bank also. I’ll give it a bit more time ….. but the clock is ticking ….

I had communicated with Thai many weeks ago about his Panther as I wanted to know what configurations would be available as regards flaps and speed brakes. While he did mention that the kit would be printed in various configurations, no photos have ever surfaced with the exception of one showing the left hand wing on his FB page. I decided to walk away from pre-ordering one because I had no idea what the kit would look like. I'm glad I did. 

 

I have only ever pre-ordered one kit - the Joycraft CT-114 Tutor, and I am expecting that to be later than promised.

Thai does great work and I have the F9F on preorder. I remain hopeful that whatever is preventing him from shipping and providing updates is not serious, and he is able to build a business that is be profitable and one  he is proud of.
