Dandiego Posted June 18 Author Posted June 18 Two more sections printed and attached. Now at 25 inches. Was printing the next section, 7 hr print, but the power went out for about 5 minutes. So I have started over. Dan Rainer Hoffmann, denders, LSP_Kevin and 17 others 20
Rainer Hoffmann Posted June 18 Posted June 18 The sections seem to line up quite well. Is there a lot of filling and sanding required? Cheers Rainer Dandiego 1

I have had a couple of similar episodes with my Saturn 4 Ultra after a firmware update when the printer 'froze' with the UV on and build plate down. Temps rose to almost 50°C. Couldn't do anything but turn the mains off. On restarting, printer announced 'there has been a power interruption - continue printing?' I hit 'yes' and it reset itself and continued the print as if nothing was wrong! The only issue was a big fat 'cured' layer showing as the UV was on for possibly two hours, but the print was still dimensionally spot on! Dandiego 1
Jim Barry Posted June 18 Posted June 18 I love the segmentation approach here. I know the XF-91 kit you produced for me has this same assembly type. Is there a forum for Monster Scale Planes? You'd fit right in! amurray and Dandiego 1 1

Cheers Rainer Yes there is some filling and sanding. Resin prints are super smooth but sometimes the edges can get a little wonky. Alignment of parts is not too hard, but care must be taken. For the Hustler that is why I left the central alignment hole. Also my machines seem to handle 4" sections easily, any larger and I get failures. Dan RCPlym and Rainer Hoffmann 2

RCPlym Posted June 18 Posted June 18 I'm all Saturn 4's here. Standard 4 and an Ultra 16K I bought in really cheap and repaired them, plus a 5 month old 4 Ultra that has manifested an LCD manufacturing defect with a bad edge seal causing it to blackout on one edge and a warranty replacement arrived today, so it'll be a weekend strip down sometime to replace that. 🙄 Superb printers that'll keep me going for a good while! geedubelyer and Dandiego 2
Dandiego Posted June 19 Author Posted June 19 2 more sections. Now at 30 inches long. Dan airacobra, LSP_Kevin, Polecadt and 8 others 11
scvrobeson Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Man, I can't wait to see what a monster footprint this thing takes up once it's printed and assembled. Going to need its own table at OrangeCon once you finish it. Matt Dandiego and Rainer Hoffmann 2

Gilligan71 Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Man, that's going to be wild. Great printing. A found a file for the u-2s, printed it in 1/32, it had panel lines, made old matchbox lines look like tamiya in comparison. Onto the shelf of doom that's gone. Hoping yours comes out awesome, wise choice of no panel lines. Cheers Gil RCPlym and Dandiego 2
