Now that Revell have announced their 'Project Harrier' I thought it worth starting a separate thread so that we can discuss details, share images etc. here.

Starting with the announcement earlier today:

So - first generation Harriers then?

Should be an interesting ride. Cool jet. How many end users? What time span might be expected or planned?

Thanks Iain. I was curious what time span they were going to cover in the operational life of the jet.

So, a GR.3 comes first and this is going to evolve back to the pointy nosed GR.1/AV-8A and forwards to the pointy nosed SHAR and T-birds.

The illustration held up looks like a 2nd G Jump Jet, so are these going to follow to wipe the floor with the flawed Trumpeter creations?

I like the idea of the separate Pegasus on a dolly, with the proviso that by the time I've bought three Jump Jet kits I won't be building another engine so would prefer a new piece of airfield support gear be introduced, like ladders for the T jets. It would also be great to have some seated 1970s-80s era RAF pilots, similar in concept to the 1950s pilot figure in the Meteor kit.

The 3rd Quarter 2027 release schedule gives me enough leeway to catch up with the backlog, and the delay won't diminish the joy of this kit series.

Now bets are on as to how long it'll take Xtradecals et al to start producing markings sheets.

Well done Revell.

I am very happy too for the Harrier!

I built the Airfix biggie when that came out -73, oh happy times!

I have wanted to build a 1/32 Harrier for some time, but the Revell is too old and the Trumpeter offerings does not appeal.

So, this is perfect (for me) and Q3 -27 gives me time to complete my Meteor.

Can´t wait....  :frantic:

But I have a few other things to build, anyway.

I am so thrilled with this new announcement! It is super exciting! I can remeber building one of the first Harrier models in 1/72 as a very young child together with my father. It was a Matchbox kit I believe. It will be a nice trip down memory lane for me to build a first gen. Harrier kit again - this time in 1/32 scale! Good subject choice and I hope we see several main versions including the two seater too!! That is such an amazing a/c!

Thanks Revell!

Can’t wait!

Cheers

Alan
