The price is a bummer...on that note which would be more profitable for a company, this kit looks to be every bit perfect...but wouldn't a company sell a lot more if they dialed back a bit?  Like say the HKM route...

Either way Airscale is to be applauded for such an amazing kit.  I look forward to what a few of you folks can do with it....looking at you Mal😉

I could be wrong, but I believe Peter is limiting/has a cap on the number of total models produced. I'm virtually 99.999% sure he will sell every single copy, even at a bit of a higher price.

I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to get one,  so I may be watching these masterpieces get built by others.

HKM isn't one man doing everything himself - effectively at home - and simply could not deal with the economies of volume of runs of thousands brings the likes of HKM can.

Two very different types of businesses.

Ohhhh....gotcha.  didn't realize just one person.  I knew it was a smaller operation than a big company per say.  Kudos to him...it is an amazing feat...the research/detail etc he's done.  I wish I could support him.  Can't wait to see this come full circle with a completed build

I am not sure if I'll be one of the lucky ones either Brian, though it will not be through lack of trying to get one of the kits.  I also think all 100 of the kits are going to sell out very quickly given how high the quality the components are and the fact that it is a "grail" kit for many.

"Pre-orders will be launched in November / December"

That is a dangerous time of the year for me ordering things going by last years' Typhoon 'buying twice' incident! 😂😂😂😂😂

well thank you all, it is very refreshing to read so many positive comments, and powerful insight into pricing.

I don't want the kit to be out of reach, but I do want to recover my costs and just for some context, these include 16 moulds, the plastic parts going through them, cartograph decals, two artists for profiles & box art, gallons of resin & months of printing effort & power, boxes, printing, packaging materials etc etc all of which is an eye watering total :)

if I was making 5,000 kits of course the costs come down through economies of scale and if the effort required (& the market) demanded it was even possible, of course I would. That said, if I sell enough it will pay for the next kit development as well as itself hoefully

By way of justification, I think it is starting to look like it is worth the investment - I printed one (including rubbish clear parts) and really getting a feel for the prescence of the kit :) more images will be over in the WIP..

Looking lovely. Because you've printed it I immediately thought a 1/24 version might be a possibility - but then I started thinking how big that would be and I realised that its pretty big already at 1/32 scale. If I'm correct the wingspan would be around 56cm!

Gardening members will understand hoes are used to rid flower beds and vegetable patches of weeds. In the article of another superb original LSP kit development, Peter's meticulous 'weeding' is already greatly respected - plus he introduces a delightful hint of poetry!

The projected price for the Dornier 17 prompts serious thought, as it should. I am sure the price will be fair.

Not the kind of hoes that frequented one neighbourhood I had the misfortune to live in, over forty years ago.

Seriously, a lovely model but I'm now glad you aren't doing the Convair F-106. £300 is really my ceiling. But I'll enjoy seeing these Dorniers made to a standard far beyond my own ability.

I've put off purchasing any further kits this year, and selling a few off on eBay as well, so I'll be primed for getting my order in.

I'm doing similar.

Is it possible that you can make enough to cover all of the pre-orders?  I mean, surely it would be better to get earnings from 156-or more kits than it would be for just 100?  Being in Australia, I'm 10 hours ahead of you which alternatively puts me 14 hours behind you.  I obviously can't gaze at my phone for an entire workday hoping to squeeze my order in.
