I notice that other legacy modeling websites are dying on the vine yet LSP continues to flourish, especially with Works In Progress.  Works submitted expand in number and those works are exceptional!

Why LSP's success?  Am I missing something?

No, not really. Just pleasant, knowledgeable people who are into models from all around the world, willing to share that knowledge.

I also think it helps to remove certain volatile subjects that can sometimes foster ill will.

As Brian wrote LSP is more focusing on what is putting people together rather than on what can separate them!

And technically the site and forums are balanced: a sufficient number without too many sections.

Add to that a large core of nice guys always happy to help...

and you get the recipe for a good meal...😉

Yep, I think it’s because the vast majority of us like and respect each other despite the numerous innate differences and potential pitfalls of nationality, subject interest, experience and skill level, age etc etc. And whilst I may occasionally disagree with them, it’s well moderated.  Particular mention of course must be made of the inimitable Kevin Futter, who is the steady hand at the helm of the Forum.

And when you have the likes of Peter Castle making this his modelling “home”, and Will of DBMK and Mark of Kotare posting on a personal basis, it all adds gravitas to the site.  Long may it continue; like most things it needs input and enthusiasm to survive and flourish so any lurkers, or any non-WiP posters, come on in, the water’s warm :D

I think being fortunate enough to have the likes of Peter, Will and Mark gracing our forums in any capacity, is really something seriously special.

One name:  Kevin Futter.  While all the above is true and the Mod’s help out as much as they can, I don’t think LSP would survive long term without Kevin.  He does it all and is probably taken for granted more than he should.  Thank you Kevin!

Cheers,

Chuck

I'd agree with that!

+1 on that. @LSP_Kevin is the hub of all of this. We have an incredibly learned and experienced community here. In addition to @airscale, @Mark Robson and others there are also other contributors, industry insiders, who go about their business here without fanfare ( e.g. @Radub or @rsanz)and make very real inputs. There are even deceased members whose historic contributions are valuable resources to this day.

In case anyone had any doubt: Yes, this really is the best site for scale modelling anyone will find.

Kind regards,

Paul

I agree 100%! I've been on other modeling sites and ,well, they would snap your head off f you were to ask, what they felt, was a dumb question. I don't get that kind of condescending attitude /treatment here. I also feel that I'm conversing with some of the most knowledgeable people in the modeling world and feel privileged  to be here. Plus you all put up with my silly questions!

There are no silly questions, only frivolous answers. Your questions are always genuine.

I still consider myself a beginner in this craft and I’ve learned more here than any other single site.

Kind regards,

Paul

I would like to add that we have effective team of moderators that are skillfully defusing tensions and following along constantly, which is hell of a task. So hats off to you guys.

Cheers
