hey guys, time for something a little different. I haven't built an aircraft in ages and felt the need to build something that isn't a ship or car.
I finished this one off last week but only now got to taking any pics. Its my take on the Takom LUN Ekranoplan, painted in a scheme I saw on War Thunder but with a couple of changes (mostly adding the stars etc)
Not a bad kit, a few fitment issues, but nothing some modelling skills can't take care of.
Painted in Model Colour, Tamiya and SMS paints of varying colours. Weathered with oils and pigments (probably badly IRL, but I think it looks cool).

Sorry for the lens flare - no I'm not channeling my inner JJ Abrams. I didn't even realise it happened until post processing.
Oh well, adds to the drama as such
Anyways, that's it, but as always, thanks for stopping in and having a look

Indeed it is.  I made me curious enough to look up information about the Ekranoplan.  It's almost comical how the designer and military were willing to spend so much money and time on something that absolutely required calm seas to operate.  Did they expect the Caspian to never experience any wind or weather, or did it just slip their minds?

Thanks for the kind feedback guys :) Certainly a unique craft & concept really. Agreed, the seas weren't ever always going to be perfect for low level flight and the designers did know this. From memory, I think the swell limits were about 3 meters before the effect was lost - which is pretty restrictive in that sea for sure, but I don't think the plan was just to keep it deployed in the Caspian Sea.
