drt786 Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Hi All, A bit delayed in getting this post up, but I am building the brilliant Academy AH-1Z kit in Czech Airforce colours. Here's what the cockpit looked like when completed, I added lots of scratchbuilt items to make up for the lack of details in the avionics and seats. F`s are my favs, thierry laurent, Philbucknall and 16 others 19
drt786 Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 Some detailed shots of the chin bays (resin set from Legend) Loach Driver, marek models, Zola25 and 15 others 18
drt786 Posted March 28 Author Posted March 28 Thanks gents! Next, because i was going to open up the various (generously sized) cooling vents around the fuselage, I scratch-made: The whole APU (this was way overkill in hindsight) The 'doghouse' avionics Belly oil cooler and associated plumbing LSP_Kevin, Martinnfb, Landrotten Highlander and 19 others 21 1
RCPlym Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Where did you find the hand of that size to hold that full-sized component that has been stolen from the helicopter in the last image? 😲 Good grief it even has the crinkle finish paint as on the real thing! Truly staggering level of detail!!! geedubelyer 1

drt786 Posted March 28 Author Posted March 28 Thank you all! The next steps in the build were the 3D-printed M197 gun (designed and printed by the brilliant Simone Plai) + DEF Model metal barrel, and then adding rivets adn scratch-built wiring and explosive charges to the canopy interior: Zola25, denders, marek models and 15 others 18

geedubelyer Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Crikey! You must have very good eyesight. Do you manage to get everything so crisp and sharp on the first go or do you have to try multiple times? I can't see any glue anywhere Brilliant stuff. Will we ever be able to see the completed model at any shows? Cheers, Guy Martinnfb 1
Cicchino Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I have no words, I'm just in awe! I Regards John Martinnfb 1
