The latest custom work this week was really enjoyable. Below is the Turner  RT-14 Meteor as she stood in 1938 ,the year  she won the Thompson Trophy  piloted by its designer Roscoe Turner.  This same plane also won in 1939 making it the only plane to win the trophy twice, an achievement worthy of the plane's display at the Smithsonian Air and Space (Udvar-Hazy facility) . Turner also won in 1934 flying his  Wedell Williams #44 as the " Gilmore Red Lion" a wonderful kit by Williams Bros. if anyone is interested. I can't say I'm personally knowledgeable about racing planes, but it's been fun learning more about them. They were, as one might suspect, inspiring and foundational to the WW2 birds but when reliability and range and armament were not required, we see some truly amazing aviation and some brave men.

My customer who has built a model of this (and posted here on LSP) wanted to add Turner to his display and additionally his grandfather Mac, who was the mechanic on it.

How cool is that?

What's parametric?  BTW...  I like the couple better with their faces separated.  So, If I make a drawing of a small part say 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch by 2/3 inch, you'll be able sell it to me?

Basically a 'parametric' design is one where each part of the design has its own 'parameter'.

Think of designing a plank of wood with dimensions of L300mm x W50mm x D2mm.

You then decide it actually needs to be D2.5mm.

You only need to change the D parameter to 2.5mm and it is done. You don't need to redesign the whole thing.

Your drawing of a small part 1/2 x 1/2 x 2/3" will be a yes. You could even supply a drawing at 1" x 1" x 1 and 1/3", or even bigger, and the item could be rescaled to the required size, or to any size needed.

It's internal canopy bracing.  Tubes and flat pieces, but so flimsy that nothing I do looks like it came from a factory.
