Jim Barry Posted March 19 Posted March 19 (edited) Hi Guys! Tiny thing here, but I am starting a page that hosts my 3D files I created specifically for aviation related figures/pilots - ready to print. I have 3 so far. I can create 3D files from photos so if you have a pilot you'd like to feature we can work to create them. I have a staff artist (my daughter!) who can assist if you only have limited photographs and need expanded imagery for the figure. Pricing may depend on how much work, but it's very reasonable. A good photo might just be $20 and artist assistance just $20 more. Stock files I'm hosting are $5. Later this summer I'm going to get into printing myself so more to come! https://cults3d.com/en/users/ValkyrieDesigns/3d-models For example this Luftwaffe pilot and his dog Below are print tests at 1/32 scale. Jim Barry Posted March 19 Author Posted March 19 And thanks really to the forum for nudging this along! Special thanks to @RCPlym for testing! Martinnfb 1
geedubelyer Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Good luck with this venture Jim. With the closure of Reedoak this might be a perfectly viable alternative. Jim Barry and Martinnfb 1 1
Jim Barry Posted March 19 Author Posted March 19 (edited) Thanks (again), Guy. I guess this could be! I added Eddie Rickenbacker to the inventory today. Phew! https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/eddie-rickenbacker He's somewhat interesting to me beyond his WW1 service in that my Great Grandfather sold his cars in Charlotte, NC in the 20's. Maybe they knew each other, I'm not sure. The Rickenbacker automobile was the first production car with 4 wheel brakes, fun fact. Eddie went on to found Eastern Airlines. His exploits as America's WW1 leading ace are extraordinary downing 26 in the 6 months he flew over France (April 1918 to Oct 2018). A kill rate just slightly less than Richthofen who flew for 19 months. In his last 6 weeks he shot down 12 Fokker D.VIIs and 5 Balloons which were well guarded by trained flak guns. I myself bought a Spad XIII today in 1/24 and look forward to adding Eddie next to it! (shush, I know that's a Nieuport in the picture) Edited March 19 by Jim Barry patricksparks, Kagemusha, BiggTim and 2 others 5
Jim Barry Posted March 20 Author Posted March 20 (edited) Does anyone think I have modeled Eddie's cap wrong (my file at the bottom or in image above)? I have feedback that my 3D file has it wrong. I dug up a bunch of other images to check. I can't see that I do, but I wanted more input if I could. I don't want any shortcomings in my offerings, especially right off the bat. Thanks! Martinnfb Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Thats amazing Jim, would you be able to put my face into the Luftwaffe uniform and make my dog as well. Not joking. That would go great with my latest 109 build. Cheers Martin Jim Barry, geedubelyer, BiggTim and 2 others 5
Jim Barry Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 Sure. If you have a picture of the pilot pose that’ll help (or I can propose some) but most importantly, I need your face and your dog. $20 PayPal works. To be clear, this is just a printable 3d file not a print. Message me to further. Thx Martinnfb and BiggTim 1 1
