Well, friends, today was the final stretch.

I glued on the three door latches, both on the moving and fixed sections.

To simulate the black rubber seal between the door and the fuselage, I simply applied a little black Tamiya Panel Liner.

 

 

 

I attached the tip to the pitot tube, glued the door, the spinner, the three radiator flaps under the fuselage, and the antenna wires, complete with their three black-and-white insulators.

My P-39 is finally finished!

But compared to this build, the SH Tempest was a walk in the park!

In any case, thank you all for your support, encouragement, and advice throughout this never-ending battle!

WOW!!.  Your P-39 looks excellent, Denis.  This is not the easiest model to build, but you've made it look as good as anyone could.  And with a great paint job too.

Well, even though it doesn't quite reach the standard of a 1/32 Tamiya kit, I have to admit that my P-39 turned out pretty well.

There are a few flaws here and there, but overall it looks pretty much the way I wanted it to.

I hope the P-39 enthusiasts won't hold any mistakes against me.

It's not an aircraft I'm very familiar with, so I had to do a lot of digging and research along the way to make up for my lack of knowledge.

It came out amazingly well Denis! I love the contrast between the weathered olive drab and the bright patriotic slogan down the side.

 

Great job conquering such a tough kit to such a high standard.

Well, that's it, this P-39 is finally finished!

This American/VVS journey has come to an end, and I won't hide the fact that it's been quite a ride!

This Kitty Hawk kit is definitely not the easiest one I've ever worked on.

I had to stay on my toes throughout the build because there are plenty of traps waiting for the unwary, especially around the cockpit and instrument panel, as well as the nose landing gear.

That said, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and I finally got the chance to try salt weathering for the first time!

Thanks to all of you for following along, for your advice, and for your encouragement throughout the project.

It really helped keep me going.
