Furie Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Hey friends! After Kotare’s Spitfire, I decided to build this Kitty Hawk P-39. My wife got it for me for Christmas, and honestly, it was a total surprise. The kit’s awesome, and it’s a first for me ’cause I’ve never really used this brand before. I decided to pimp it out with a Kelik cockpit (K32030) : Eduard wheels and exhaust pipes (632073 + 632081) : And a Master Model pitot tube (AM-32-116) : Can’t wait to kick off this adventure soon! nmayhew Posted March 13 Posted March 13 this will be like jumping into an ice cold bath after Kotare's Spit! 🤣 before they went '**** up' they became known as 'Shittyhawk' i believe you will have problems getting panels and doors to fit in a closed position from what i remember of other builds but i am sure you are up to the task!! 💪 any pics of the bird you are making? Allegedly, both this and the Special Hobby kit are around 5 mm too short in the tail area. But I've seen other comments that say they're both fine. I've seen builds where the modeller has extended the fuselage, but I didn't bother with mine, and I think it looks fine. Kev Gazzas, Kagemusha, KiwiZac and 4 others 6 1

LSP_Kevin Posted March 13 Posted March 13 And yes, all those separate panels are a pain to fit! Good luck, Denis! Kev Furie and Martinnfb 1 1

Gazzas Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I've read somewhere that the USSR just covered over the USA stars on the upper wings because putting red or white stars there was not very conducive to camoflaging. Martinnfb and Furie 2

Furie Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 Kev, I’ve bookmarked your WiP. I’ll admit I haven’t read all 50 pages yet, but I will so I know what I’m getting myself into. Out2gtcha and LSP_Kevin 2
Furie Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 2 minutes ago, Gazzas said: See LSP Kevins remark above... Ah, you meant lengthening the fuselage. No, I’m not going to do that, I’ll leave it as it is. I did read that there might be a length issue, but nothing really certain. Denis getting lazy… Gazzas and Polecadt 2
