JoshuaSr Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Hello my name is Joshua I am new to this forum. There are a series of teardrop cutouts on the outer edge of the p.e fret. There are two different sizes, and in the instructions it shows a piece of heated spru being pushed through it like a mold, the it shows the part being cut off..what are theses used for? It is confusing can not find much of anything off of a google search. Thank you.
Out2gtcha Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Welcome! We would likely need a bit more information about what you are dealing with, such as the make/model of the kit, and if it's AM or OOB PE. Cheers,
Hubert Boillot Posted February 3 Posted February 3 (edited) Looks like a PE sheet designed to press-mold heated sprue and end up with blister-shaped fairings. With transparent sprue you’ll get navigation lights blisters. Hubert Edited February 3 by Hubert Boillot chukw and geedubelyer 2
LSP_Kevin Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Welcome aboard, Joshua! Hubert has the correct answer. These cut-outs are are bit of value-add built into the PE fret, which allow you to create nav light blisters with heated clear sprue. It's not something you'll need or do very often, but incredibly handy when that time comes! Kev geedubelyer 1
